INTERN - Data Scientist - AI for data analysis

Team Description:

The internship will be hosted within the Amadeus Research division.  One of our missions is to explore new technologies and deliver prototypes and solutions to support the development of the travel industry and evaluate the next generation of tools, usages, and emerging technologies.  

Research Engineers and Data Scientists within the team are experts in artificial intelligence, statistical analysis, operations research, and combinatorial optimization. The intern will be supported by a dedicated tutor but can work and exchange with all the team members. 

Main Responsibilities:

Generative AI is one of the main focuses of Amadeus Research team. Its impact on the travel industry is potentially huge. Gen AI can be used directly to support travellers or used to support the productivity of travel agents and business experts. 

At Amadeus we have a large variety of data sources and a huge volume of data. These data sources are used at scale by our data analyst and BI experts. The objective of this internship is to develop a prototype or a co-pilot that rely on generative AI and can support data analysis on their activities. This co-pilot should: 

• Understand a query formulated in a conversational way 

• Identify the right data source  

• Formulate the query in the adapted language (sql, noSql,..) 

• Execute the request and display the results 

• Propose simple visualization  

To achieve that, different models and approach need to be tested and evaluated by the intern. Depending on the progress, a contextual suggestion can be added to the co-pilot to propose requests and visualization based on what the user is doing and its context.        

In this scope, this internship aims to review, study, and implement different approaches to build an efficient co-pilot. 

The intern will be in charge of  

• making a literature review and choosing the technologies that seem the best suited for the data analytics use case. 

• Implementing (eventually training) and testing chatbot prototypes on various scenarios 

• Implementing a basic UI for interaction

Requirement:

Good technical / computer science background:  

• (necessary) Python  

• (necessary) Knowledge of NLP and language models 

• (necessary) Knowledge of data base and analytics  

• (preferred) Knowledge cloud providers (Microsoft Azure, AWS, GCP, …) 

• (preferred) some basic experience designing UI (in Python or others) 

• Soft skills : autonomous and curious
