Responsibilities

Old National Bank is currently seeking an Investment Analyst within our 1834 Portfolio Construction and Manager Research group. This position is responsible for contributing to a collaborative investment process within 1834, a division of Old National Bank’s dedicated to high net worth and institutional investment advisory.

 

The role will primarily focus on research and analysis related to the asset allocation and portfolio construction processes, and will support decision-making processes related to both long-term (strategic) and short-term (tactical) asset allocation. Specifically, this role includes: gathering, organizing, and analyzing economic data from a variety of sources, as well as building, calibrating, and maintaining economic models that feed into our broader asset allocation process. This role will provide qualified candidates with exposure to and guidance from senior investment team leadership, and offers significant runway to grow as an investment analyst, and as a key contributor to 1834’s investment process.

 

Candidates who are qualified for this role will have prior investment research experience, will possess a basic understanding of multi-asset portfolio management and/or the wealth management business, and will bring solid quantitative skills along with experience with related tools and techniques.

 

Key Accountabilities

Investment Research:

  • Utilizing various systems to find, extract, and analyze data
  • Fund/manager screening, analysis, and due diligence
  • Quantitative and qualitative analysis of investment strategies
  • Measuring and managing portfolio risk
  • Interpreting analysis results, making useful inferences, and summarizing conclusions
  • Making recommendations on how the data ought to influence decisions
  • Building and/or maintaining quantitative/analytical tools
  • Generating output from tools/models, and sharing results/conclusions with internal team(s)

Business Development – Portfolio ‘Deconstruction’

  • Analyzing portfolios of current and prospective clients, providing valuable insights while conveying 1834’s ability to create value through implementation of our investment process
  • Creating and delivering investment proposals that contrast existing portfolios of prospective clients with 1834 investment recommendations

Communication:

  • Communicating with external and internal partners in a professional manner
  • Conveying complex ideas to broad audiences – expressing quantitative concepts in qualitative terms
  • Participating in and contributing to a variety of internal discussions
  • Effectively using visuals – charts, tables, graphics, etc. – in educational materials for colleagues and clients

Facilitating the Investment Process:

  • Organizing library of data, tools, information, deliverables.
  • Maintaining system(s) for keeping relevant files and data organized and accessible
  • Creating reports to convey analytical work, economic insights, model output, etc.
  • Occasionally taking notes and keeping records of internal team meetings/discussions as well as meetings with external asset managers and other vendors/partners/stakeholders
