Job Description
Penguin Random House’s Adult Mass Merch Sales team has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Sr. Sales Associate to join the Clubs team. The Sr. Sales Associate will take on both sales support and a selling role partnering with warehouse clubs’ accounts.
The ideal candidate should have some experience working within sales and have strong written and verbal communication skills. They should be able to work self-sufficiently and enjoy finding creative ways to find solutions for our retail partners. Curiosity and adaptability are two qualities that lend success to this role.
Support Responsibilities:
- Acting as point person for seasonal sales calls: gathering materials, researching titles, and creating the powerpoint presentations in conjunction with the team.
- Managing our co-op pool: submitting contracts and updating our tracker.
- Analyzing and reporting on a weekly and ad-hoc basis market trends and insights.
Selling Responsibilities:
- Presenting titles on a seasonal basis to the Club retailers and its supporting vendor.
- Optimizing all frontlist and backlist opportunities with in-store promotions and close management of a co-op pool.
- Communicating account buys and updating estimates.
- Attending regular meetings, including but not limited to, imprint launch, strategy, and marketing meetings and consistently provide account-specific feedback.
- Collaborating with publishers on opportunities that are unique to the account.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 1-2 years of sales experience, direct selling is a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills
- Highly organized with the ability to effectively manage multiple competing priorities and follow up
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment
- Proactive with the ability to work well under pressure
- Excel at working within a collaborative team environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
- Ability to travel up to 10% by car, train, or plane within the domestic U.S.
- Previous sales experience in publishing is a strong plus
Additional Information
The salary for this position is $65,000. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results.
Penguin Random House is headquartered in New York City. This flexible hybrid role is based at our offices at 1745 Broadway and typically requires 1–2 in-office days per week. Additional on-site attendance may occasionally be needed to support programming, events, or other business needs. Candidates should reside within a reasonable commuting distance of New York City or be prepared to relocate prior to their start date.
