MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
A high school diploma or its equivalent and two years of experience in laboratory work.
College or vocational/technical training can substitute at the rate of 30 semester, 45 quarter or 720 classroom hours for the required experience provided such education includes three courses in the physical and/or natural sciences.
Note: If education is being used to qualify for this position, you must provide a copy of an official or unofficial transcript as supporting documentation showing the required coursework.
Possession of a valid Driver License.

JOB DUTIES:
Data management, entry into laboratory notebook or sample databases, preparing data for migration into database. Assist with data acquisition for grant proposals. Prepare samples, including performing nematode extraction from soil and roots, and specimens for morphological identification, including slide mounting, specimen mounting, labeling, and nematode inoculations, etc.
Dissecting roots and collecting specimens for nematode identifications using biochemical and DNA techniques. Organizing, cleaning, moving equipment, disposing of materials, plants, etc., to keep the workplace and greenhouses safe, and efficient.
Update the plant-parasitic nematode species files by searching databases and collecting information. Organizing older literature resources and archives.
Routine maintenance of equipment and, manage supplies. Assist with research projects in labs, greenhouses, field, etc.
Assist building identification tools and technologies: molecular, digital, publications, and physical resources.
Perform other tasks as assigned by management.
