Position Specific Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lead Project Manager to join our Infrastructure Development Organization at NextEra Energy Resources. The Transmission & Interconnection Strategy Team at NextEra Energy is dedicated to identifying and optimizing best-in-class interconnection and transmission projects that enable the accelerating renewables build out. The successful candidate will work closely with our Interconnection Services technical team, who manages interconnection feasibility studies and network upgrade cost estimate activities through the full life cycle of development and construction of projects leading to the successful execution of new asset growth. The candidate will be responsible for creating and overseeing processes for our Interconnection Services team to efficiently manage a substantial portfolio of interconnection queues. Additionally, this role will focus on enhancing the advanced tools used to identify optimal locations for new renewable energy projects, contributing to the successful growth of our renewable energy assets. This position will also coordinate executive portfolio review meetings in advance of management approvals, ensuring alignment and informed decision-making. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement efficient processes for managing a large portfolio of interconnection queues, ensuring timeliness, accuracy, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Interconnection Services, Transmission Fundamentals, Regulatory Affairs, and Development, to streamline interconnection activities.
• Monitor and report on the progress of interconnection projects, identifying and mitigating potential risks and challenges
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends, regulations, and technological advancements to continuously improve processes and tools.
   

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in leading cross-functional teams
• Experience with implementing project management principles and process design
• Experience with workflow management tools (i.e. JIRA)
• Candidates with prior energy experience, an MBA, or a relevant graduate degree are highly preferred.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Experience & proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and Word
   

Job Overview

Employees in this role develop and execute plans for new and enhanced generation projects. This job is responsible for resource allocation, schedules, cost and technical adequacy, ensuring the project or transaction is completed in the most cost effective and competitive manner. This position manages all aspects of the business deal and ensures the project is completed timely and within budgetary constraints.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Manages all aspects of the day to day transaction process to ensure timely completion as well as a cost effective and competitive result
• Leads and coordinates key functions such as financial feasibility analyses, engineering/design, project legal review, permitting activities and financial negotiations
• Coordinates due diligence activities with other internal groups to ensure proper analysis and structuring of assigned projects
• Acts as liaison between internal and external specialists regarding procurement, contracting, permitting and interconnection
• Constructs contractual arrangements for project development
• Negotiates agreements with consultants and subcontractors
• Ensures compliance with applicable technical and regulatory requirements
• Fosters external relationships with customers, third parties and members of the community
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned
