Description

We’re seeking a sustainability expert to lead the development and delivery of environmental analysis and modelling across agri-tech systems. You’ll apply Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) to ISO standards, ranging from carbon footprinting to cradle-to-grave assessments and develop techno-economic models of farm systems. Your work will empower clients to evaluate real-world impacts, guide strategic decisions and support the shift toward more sustainable food systems.  The role can be fully remote or hybrid, if you are within commutable distance to one of our hubs (Edinburgh, York, Midlands).

Key responsibilities

Take a leading role in delivering sustainability and techno-economic modelling for R&D and commercial projects in the UK agricultural sector. In this role, you will:
  • Lead Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and techno-economic modelling using tools like SimaPro
  • Conduct ISO-aligned system analyses and support on-farm sustainability strategies
  • Collaborate with technical specialists and multidisciplinary teams
  • Produce high-quality reports and presentations
  • Support data collection, bid writing and stakeholder engagement
  • Provide technical leadership and contribute to project planning and innovation

What we are looking for

We’re seeking a candidate with a strong background in engineering, environmental science, agriculture or a related technical field, ideally with degree-level education or equivalent experience. You’ll bring:
  • Professional experience (2+ years) in Life Cycle Assessment and/or techno-economic modelling using industry-recognised tools (e.g. SimaPro or similar software)
  • Ability to apply modelling techniques to novel systems beyond carbon alone (e.g. biodiversity, water, socio-economic impacts)
  • Strong data handling skills, including primary data collection and mass balance techniques
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Experience in stakeholder engagement and cross-sector collaboration
  • Bid writing or experience developing project proposals
  • Understanding of how agri-tech is applied in farming systems

Why join us?

You could be part of a pioneering organisation driving innovation in agri-tech, whilst working in a collaborative and forward-thinking environment. There is opportunity to grow and develop within a newly established organisation, plus a range of benefits including:
