Job Summary

The Generation Application Support Specialist Associate is responsible for contributing to the optimization of value for existing applications and software agreements in Generation via production, project, and user support. Learning the Generation business processes, needs, and priorities and promoting continuous improvement. Work in teams to support application integrations, migrations, enhancements, service requests, and maintenance. Development of agile project skills. Support and communicate data governance for generation applications to promote data quality. Identify and contribute to continuous improvement opportunities for automation and digitization of existing processes in Generation. Perform work activities, as assigned and coached, by higher-level employees demonstrating the ability to learn equipment, systems, and processes in assigned areas of responsibility.

Job Description

FOCUS: Work and Asset Management, Data Analysis, Visualization & Governance

- Dedicated to optimizing electric generation processes for work and asset management to ensure reliable, efficient, and sustainable energy production.

- Committed to implementing innovative strategies that enhance operational performance, extend asset life cycles, and minimize costs while adhering to regulatory standards.

- Ability to analyze data with Cognos and Power BI , manage multiple demands effectively, and collaborate cross-functionally to optimize application utilization in Generation.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

- Participate in estimate developments for business justifications.

- Develop decision making skills and understanding of the continuous need to add value to internal and external customers.

- Develop relationships and networks with stakeholders to understand how they depend on the work of this department.

- Work with all generation business units and IT to identify upstream and downstream risks (application and/or business process) of new and upgraded applications within generation and provide input to suggestions for risk mitigation. Identify and communicate gaps and opportunities for process improvements

- Seeks out, analyze and interpret information for work activities and problem solving.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Based on education, experience, interview and internal equity, this opportunity will be filled at either title. For this posting, minimum requirements are stated at the higher grade. Increased expectations are at the higher grade.

Generation Applications Support Specialist (mid-level) (grade 6): Base Salary = $75K - $93K

Generation Applications Support Specialist Associate (entry-level) (grade 5): Base Salary = $64K - $79K

Education: bachelor of science (BS) degree in relevant field such as Computer Science, Information Systems Management; OR,

Associate of science (AS) degree and two (2) years of experience, preferably in the utility industry; OR,

Four (4) years of related experience in utility industry.

Experience with software projects including migrations, integrations, data dependencies and process flow.; Proficient in MS Office package (Excel, Visio, Word, and Power Point)

Other Requirements & Preferred Qualifications:  These are additional expectations for the job and could include specific work experience, preemployment testing, expectations about travel, shift work, etc.

  • Communicates effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrate the highest standards of ethical behavior and support the AEP’s Corporate Compliance Policy
  • Experience in Agile project methodology, preferred
  • Team player with ability to work and collaborate well with others
  • Participate in establishing a healthy culture of continuous Process Improvement
  • Some travel required

WHAT YOU’LL GET

Base Salary:  $64K - $93K
