Advanced Technology is seeking an Engineering Associate Director to lead the Mission & JEDI Engineering team in the Collins Aerospace Mission Systems Strategic Business Unit. Mission Engineering is an analytical and data-driven approach to decompose and analyze the constituent parts of a mission to identify measurable trade-offs and draw conclusions. It involves the deliberate planning, analyzing, organizing, and integrating of current and emerging operational and systems capabilities to achieve desired warfighting mission effects. JEDI – JADC2 Experimentation and Demonstration IR&D – provisions for rapidly deployed mobile platforms used in flight demonstrations of these curated mission effects. The Associate Director will provide leadership over impactful programs and direct a dynamic team that brings our networked battlefield capabilities to life, speeding their transition to the warfighter.

The successful candidate will be part of a distributed team composed of professionals from several disciplines and must have the ability to function well, both alone and with others, and have strong interpersonal skills. This position may require occasional travel (up to 10%.).

What YOU Will Do:

  • Support and organize large scale demonstrations
  • Work with leaders across Mission Systems and beyond, as well as within own team, to staff these large-scale demonstrations
  • Able to work rapidly to prototype and demonstrate new technologies, sometimes developing new processes along the way
  • Develop and work to institutionalize the Mission Engineering capability in Mission Systems
  • Advance state of the art technologies to support the business key strategic initiatives
  • Ensure the development of state-of-the-art analytics tools and methodologies
  • Lead technology road mapping events and support integration into product line strategies
  • Ensure the development and management of technical risks; develop and execute mitigation plans
  • Manage requirements, systems integration, and verification oversight
  • Drive overall technical execution of projects in the portfolio under his/her leadership to ensure all program requirements and objectives are met on schedule and within the authorized budget
  • Identify opportunities to advance the technology portfolio resulting in enhanced products to meet our customers future needs
  • Ensure compliance with international trade policies and procedures
  • Ensure the protection of Collins Aerospace intellectual property; safeguard customer and supplier/partner intellectual property
  • Assist in growing talent, including discipline health across the technology organization

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 12 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 10 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 16 years of relevant experience
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date 
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Advanced Degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM))
  • Active and transferable Top Secret U.S. government issued security clearance, with current SCI or SCI eligibility
  • Previous experience in a Research & Development environment
  • Previous experience writing proposals for externally-funded research
  • Previous management/leade
