About the role

Ivy Tech seeks qualified faculty to supplement the in person instruction needs of our Medical Assisting students on the Evansville, IN campus. This role oversees the instruction in applied communication, medical business practices, and professional medical law and ethics in the ambulatory healthcare setting.

Major Responsibilities:

Candidates must be able to provide instruction in person at the Evansville, IN campus.

PROGRAM OPERATION:

  • Perform all instructional duties necessary to teach and facilitate student learning in assigned classes.
  • Provide syllabus appropriate to course(s) being taught to students and follows syllabus content and requirements.
  • Maintain student attendance and grading records according to College policy as outlined in the Adjunct Handbook.
  • Submits requested information within established timelines.

STUDENTS:

  • Is available to students outside scheduled class time to answer questions/provide assistance.
  • Deal with student concerns and, if necessary, consult with program coordinator to resolve issues.

INSTRUCTION:

  • Meet all scheduled classes of contracted course(s). Use technology such as Blackboard, PowerPoint, etc. as appropriate.
  • In event of emergency absence, notifies program/department chair.
  • Conduct all activities with an appreciation and respect for diversity of people, styles, and views. Promote same as an integral part of one's work.

Hiring Range:

  • $39,000-45,000 per year

Work Hours:  

  • This is a full-time position working Monday-Friday during normal business hours. Evening hours may be required on occasion.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Possesses a baccalaureate degree, or higher.
  • Two years of directly related work experience.
  • Current Professional certification in ambulatory healthcare setting performing or observing administrative and clinical procedures as performed by medical assistants.
  • Must have strong working knowledge of current technologies appropriate to area of instruction.
  • Must be located to teach in-person at the Evansville, IN campus

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as faculty in higher education.
  • Previous experience teaching in a post-secondary setting.
  • Master's degree.
