Product Design Engineer (Hardware)

TUSHY creates and sells beautifully designed, innovative, and sustainable products for the bathroom. We are seeking a Product Design Engineer to manage the engineering aspects of product development and sustainment. Candidates must have demonstrated success in a collaborative and fast-paced work environment, and be excited to make an impact at a small but growing company (we’ve developed over a dozen products so far, from 2015 - 2023). Role reports into TUSHY’s Senior Director for Product Development and is mentored by Sr. Design engineer.

Key Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot current product issues, develop solutions to resolve issues, test them to confirm resolution and work with overseas vendors and Tushy Operations team to implement solutions.
• Under the mentorship of Sr. Engineer, lead engineering development of Tushy consumer products to be durable, cost-effective, user-friendly, high quality, and sustainable.
• Work with overseas factories to generate designs/solutions that are manufacturable and within their ability to produce,while pushing the factories to expand their resources. Continue to work with factories after tooling to prepare products for production.
• Develop and manage project plans/timelines for the product changes/new product development from product exploration to production while working with the designer to balance design, costs and consumer benefits.
• Work with Customer Experience to answer consumer questions and resolve consumer installation issues.
• Explore areas of innovation to determine viability for future products/features.

Requirements

• B.S. in Mechanical engineering
• 2+ years of full time work experience of engineering design for hardware products, preferably consumer products
• Experience in successfully developing new hardware products and/or solving product issues
• Experienced using 3-D modeling software such as Solidworks
• Experienced in rapid prototyping including 3D printers
• Good understanding of mechanisms and electro-mechanical systems
• Ability to communicate technical information to nontechnical audiences through conversation, presentations, and email
• Ability to travel to Asia several times per year for new product launch validation
• Proven ability to evaluate risks, make decisions and give honest feedback and criticism
• Deep appreciation for bidets and toilet humor
• Bonus nice-to-haves:
  • Experience in plastic injection part design and/or mold tool design
  • Experience in developing consumer products
  • Experience with working with overseas manufacturers
  • Knowledge/experience in working with products that manage fluids
  • Experience in Electromechanical Systems and Consumer Electronics product development/manufacturing
  • Mandarin and/or Korean language proficiency

Compensation: $80,000-$100,000
