About the role

Overview

The Head of Finance for Clinical, Business Partner, is a demanding role with both commercial and R&D focus.   The successful candidate will be a pivotal member of the Clinical Management Team, supporting the commercial organization across Americas and European countries as well as the Marketing and R&D departments.

 

This individual will lead directly two professionals and coordinating with the Sr Finance Manager of Clinical China and APAC as well as with the accounting teams worldwide to balance the demands and expectations of a fast-paced organization.  Responsibilities include supporting the business to create value via sales and finance strategy, complex financial modeling, and full P&L management and ownership.

 

Additional responsibilities include the financial inputs for setting the strategic vision, preparing metrics, assigning goals, hiring, coaching, and motivating the Direct report to provide exceptional service to our key business stakeholders and customers.

 

Responsibilities

Core Business Partner Functions

 

·       Lead and manage a Principal Analyst and a rotational analyst to provide support to Field Sales, Field Service, Marketing and R&D departments in the Clinical Business Unit

·       Drive quarter end activities, acting as a trusted partner to field sales and field service for the Americas and Europe Clinical regions.  Act as a liaison between Sales, Order Services, and Distribution to prioritize orders and allocate product.  Review deal structures to maximize revenue and assess any initial revenue recognition risks.

·       Deliver insights that drive profitable growth, and influence the key regional leaders to use these insights to make the best decisions for Waters Corporation that drive profitable growth.

·       Deliver analysis that improves productivity.

·       Leverage financial and operational expertise to identify incremental revenue opportunities and/or continuous improvement opportunities, gain buy in and drive/implement changes.

·       Create and/or oversee complex financial models and business cases that can support business decisions and justify investments, including strategic plans.

·       Work closely with the Accounting team on the monthly and quarterly close and internal and external reporting.  Worldwide consolidation responsibility of Clinical Financial results for both Commercial and R&D teams

Management Responsibilities

·       Provide directional oversight and guidance to Direct reports

·       Conduct 1:1 meetings and quarterly check-ins to discuss challenges and workload associated with projects and day-to-day activities.

·       Serve as a change agent and influence Business Partners (i.e. Legal, Finance, IT, Distribution Center).

·       Regularly interact with executive management to provide updates and influence decision making through financial metrics and sharing expertise.

Project & Ad-Hoc work

  •  Participate in strategic plan for the Clinical Business Unit
  • Model different scenarios and interact with Business Owners and Sr VP of Clinical to agree on assumptions
  • Prepare Financial section of strategic plan presentation for the Executive Committee

Qualifications

  • BA or BS required and 12+ years of experience in a Finance Business Partner or FP&A capacity.
  • Possesses relevant business and industry trend knowledge, IVD market experience is a plus
  • Demonstrated skills in employee management and HR administration.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of Management.
  • Ability to work within a complex matrix structure.
  • Demonstrated comfort in all aspects of decision making including highly complex and ambiguous situations.
  • Solid interpersonal and decision-making skills along with a take charge attitude
  • Sense of urgency and flexibility to adapt and respond to complex and changing needs of the organization
  • Motivated, self-starter with exceptional organization skills and an eye for details
  • Knowledge of an ERP system & Microsoft Office Required
