POSITION SUMMARYThe Education Fellowship at Planned Parenthood Great Rivers (PPGR) works within theEducation Department to support and implement Education programming, with a focus onserving youth. This paid position will primarily assist the Youth Programs Coordinator in theorganization of and quality improvements to the TASH program, preparing for marketing andrecruitment for the following academic year, TASH implementation, and leadership ofinterdepartmental youth-focused projects. The Fellow may also assist department staff withproviding community education sessions. The Fellow will be invited to travel to selecteducational partnership sites in PPGR’s service region and to various community and outreachevents. Fellows will be expected to work approximately 4-12 hours per week. Upon fellowshipcompletion, the Fellow will be provided a certificate indicating the number of hours worked.
PRIMARY DUTIES PERFORMED
TASH & Community Education Implementation:● Assist with 2024-2025 TASH program, including:○ assisting Youth Programs Coordinator in decision making, planning, preparation, &implementation of lesson plans & materials; digitizing materials & activities;refreshing multi-media sources for curricula & topic areas; digitizing & organizingTASH alum files; coordinate and supervise lobby days and retreats● Assist with Community Education sessions, including:○ assisting department staff with planning & providing PPGR multi-subject evidencebased & informed education programs with collaborating partner○ assist in the management and development of the department’s library andwebpages○ abide by evaluation systems policies and procedures, working with the EducationDepartment to apply results for service improvement
TASH & Community Education Organizing:● Assist with program reminders & scheduling, including:○ assisting department staff in solidifying agendas for the week based onpredetermined lesson plans and informal group needs assessment○ sending participant reminders to TASH members and their caregivers aboutmeetings and other TASH events○ working with Youth Programs Coordinator before each TASH meeting to delegateleadership responsibilities for each meeting; assisting in session set up,facilitation, and clean up; following up with TASH participants as needed
TASH & Community Education Marketing & Recruitment● Lead Communications Collaboration, including:○ ensuring the completion of youth-focused posts on the affiliate’s social media sites& blogs, in partnership with the Communications Department and TASH members● Assist with TASH recruitment & Education marketing, including:○ revising marketing/advertising materials; devising an updated recruitment strategy(including social media), revamping lists of school personnel contacts, gatheringtestimonials from TASH members; outreach to schools in person or online; andorganizing membership applications○ utilizing provided tools & software for communications to TASH members &collaborating partners○ interdepartmental collaboration to advertise education services
ADDITIONAL DUTIES● Supporting affiliate staff training● Representing Planned Parenthood at visibility events including, but not limited to,parades, marches, rallies, meetings, workshops, tabling opportunities, and trainingsessions. Fellow may be responsible for leading other volunteers during events● Periodic travel to affiliate locations may be required● Other duties as assigned
EXPECTATIONSAlong with adherence to job duties, the following is expected of all Education fellows:● Attend and assist in a day-time staff training one Tuesday a month (usually the 3rdTuesday)● Arrive at TASH meetings 45 minutes early to help set up● Attend TASH meetings on Wednesdays and Saturdays, and a few office hours asrequested by the Youth Programs Coordinator at our Central West End location● Engage in peer-based accountability during meetings (i.e. help the group follow the preagreed upon group norms)● Support Youth Programs Coordinator in adhering to reporting requirements● Stay up to 30 minutes after the TASH meeting to help clean up
QUALIFICATIONSEducation and/or Experience (paid or unpaid)● Experience working with youth in an organized role● Experience providing educational programming strongly preferred● Experience with positive and effective collaboration with individuals and communitiesfrom diverse backgroundsDemonstrated skills in the following● Organizational skills, including project management and productivity trackingSuff
