Assistant Management Accountant

 

Worcester based with a balance of home and office working

 

£33,739 - £35,515 per year

We have an opportunity for an enthusiastic individual with a keen eye for detail to join our team as an Assistant Management Accountant. You will be responsible for supporting with the preparation and production of management accounts within the Property Services directorate, to help aid management decisions.

 

The role sits within Property Services Finance Team which manage circa £211M Turnover of SMCL and the associated management accounts, including setting of budgets, forecasts, month end postings and the relevant business partnering. This is a great opportunity for someone with experience in a similar role, who has experience in preparing management accounts and financial analysis, working in a fast paced and complex management accounting team, that is consistently working towards improving their service delivery. Occasional involvement in business partnering with the Property team may also be required.

 

Key to success in this role will be a mindset to understand the complete management accounting process, identify and propose improvements, automations and efficiencies and take ownership to drive these changes through.

 

The role of Assistant Management Accountant will include:

  • Posting of journals and production of monthly management account packs
  • Reporting monthly spend and providing commentary and variance analysis
  • Preparing balance sheet reconciliations
  • Understanding the detail of costs within the teams
  • Assisting the preparation of annual budgets and detailed forecasting
  • Assisting in SAP optimisation projects within the team and process improvements
  • Ad hoc analysis and scenario planning, with large volumes of data
  • Liaising with internal departments for the purposes of reconciliations, and timing of receipts in the accounts

 

Skills and experiences:

  • Previous experience in a similar finance role
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to adapt communication style depending on the audience
  • AAT or equivalent and wishing to study for professional qualifications
  • Technical knowledge and understanding of financial systems e.g. SAP
  • Ability to interpret written instruction and maintain accurate records
  • Working knowledge of financial regulation, legislation, and current practice
  • Proven experience of working to deadlines and prioritising workloads
  • Strong Excel and Outlook skills, with experience of working with large volumes of data and the use of formulas

  • Role salary is £30,396 with an additional policy allowance of £3,343 per annum (rising to £31,995 with an additional policy allowance of £3,519 per annum after 12 months, subject to satisfactory performance)
