Our interns gain exposure to real projects while working side by side with senior staff. Our Advisory and Planning Team is seeking a Full-Time Associate Consultant Intern for our Management Consulting group to work out of our New York, NY office. The following locations will also be considered: Washington, DC; Baltimore, MD; Chicago, IL; Denver, CO; Portland, OR; Seattle, WA; San Francisco, CA; Los Angeles, CA; and Boston, MA.

This temporary position is seeking individuals currently enrolled in an Undergraduate or Graduate degree program with an anticipated graduation date of December 2025 or May/June 2026.

This internship will be part of the WSP Summer Internship Program. As a summer intern, you have the opportunity to participate in our 12-week program scheduled to start on May 19th, 2025. The individual start date of the internship may be flexible.  

Your Impact

  • Analyzing needs and opportunities.
  • Researching industry trends.
  • Evaluating alternatives and priorities.
  • Developing the business case for infrastructure investments, particularly in drinking water, storm water/ water resources, and wastewater.
  • Writing reports and grant applications.
  • Supporting client meetings and workshops.
  • Analyzing project and program funding and financing options.
  • Reviewing and interpreting federal legislation and guidance.
  • Performing qualitative analyses and data analytics.
  • Developing financial models.
  • Complete training on assigned tasks.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Actively enrolled in an accredited environmental engineering, civil engineering, environmental science, business, economics, finance, urban planning, liberal arts, operations research, or related Undergraduate program with an anticipated graduation date of December 2025 or May/June 2026.
  • Demonstrated interest in water, infrastructure, or related field and have a strong desire to advance skills related to WSP’s work and projects.
  • Must be 18 or older.
  • Available to work during Summer 2025 for 12 weeks.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and qualitative skills. 
  • Demonstrated research skills and experience.
  • Ability to think creatively, work independently, and deliver high-quality work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, synthesize problems, and communicate point of view and analytical results.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Capable of taking direction from leadership, mentors, and managers to executive projects.
  • Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the internship

Preferred Qualifications

  • Actively enrolled in an accredited environmental engineering, civil engineering, environmental science, business, economics, finance, urban planning, liberal arts, operations research, or related Masters or PhD program with an anticipated graduation date of December 2025 or May/June 2026.
