The Additive Operations Engineer will provide leadership, engineering, planning and execution for the AMRT (Advanced Manufacturing & Repair Technology) Additive team. This role will support the AMW-Additive imperatives, including driving sustainable environmental health and safety, quality, fulfillment, and cost improvements. This individual will oversee the additive print and post print equipment, consumables and powder inventory for the cell ensuring prompt execution of New Technology Introduction and New Product Introduction prints of development components and test hardware. This role will provide leadership in communicating business priorities, the identification and resolution of issues, as well as using their experience/expertise to solve technical problems while driving the strategic improvements both by themselves as well as through their leadership and influence with the broader team.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provide coordination and leadership across the team of Additive Engineers, Technicians and Operations Coordinator ensuring daily/weekly goals and Key Performance Indicators are met including issue resolution and prioritization of work.

  • Execute on continuous improvement and lean projects to improve the safety, quality, lead time and cost of the of the additive print and post print processes in both the AMRT and in GVL-Manufacturing Production area.

  • Drive safety culture through the additive operations owning environmental waste streams, safety concern resolution, and safety/material handling improvements themselves and with the broader team.

  • Drive a lean culture and mindset in the additive operation using LEAN tools such as 5S and TPM (Total Preventative Maintenance), etc. to execute on waste elimination and improve quality as a team.

  • Provide leadership to Operations Coordinator and others on consumable and powder inventory, safety stock and reorder (powder, build plates, filters, spare parts, etc.)

  • Work with cross-functional peers, technicians, and OEMs to troubleshoot and resolve technical and quality issues as they arise including ability to troubleshoot and resolving minor machine equipment issues implementing Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) standard work and PM/Calibration plans.

  • Coordinate with leadership and Additive Engineers on mid and long-term capacity planning, and calibration of various equipment in the AMRT-Additive area.

  • Set up additive build files, post processing, part inspection and process documentation for the development, producibility and qualification of additive products and test hardware.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline

  • 2+ years of relevant engineering\manufacturing\supply chain experience.

  • Ability and willingness to travel international and domestic <10% as required.

  • US Citizen or Green Card holder permitted to work on US export-controlled technology.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Prior expertise/experience with 3D Printing and Additive Manufacturing including Polymer or Laser Powder Bed.

  • Prior expertise/experience in implementing sustainable improvements in safety, quality delivery and cost in a manufacturing environment.

  • Lean Principles/5S experience.  Root cause/correct action experience.

  • Experience in NX or other 3D CAD models and/or design simulation packages.

  • Mechanical aptitude in troubleshooting/resolving mechanical/electrical systems.

  • Willingness and ability to learn, troubleshoot and operate a varying range of equipment including electrical/mechanical.

  • Experience in development and qualification of components. 

  • Master's Degree in Engineering or Business from an accredited college or university.

  • Ability to research into problems, identify root causes and provide efficient corrective actions.
