SUMMARY:

The Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for assisting in the overall fiscal control of the organization, including, but not limited to Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and General Ledger journal entries and reconciliations. The Senior Staff Accountant position is responsible for the reconciliation and presentation of the Company’s cash position at all times. This position is vital in the production of monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial reports that comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards.  The Senior Staff Accountant will assume a strategic and practical role in the accounting department that include day-to-day responsibilities of planning, management and analysis to ensure all financial data produced is done so accurately and timely. This position works independently using their financial knowledge to complete monthly journal entries. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Create detailed financial reports for management and stakeholders.
  • Prepare and review complex financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends and potential issues.
  • Manage general ledger accounts and ensure accuracy of financial data.
  • Tracks fixed assets and maintains accurate records of depreciation and amortization.
  • Monitors and guides reconciliation of AP and AR to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Assists with month-end and year-end closing procedures, including journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Perform complex account reconciliations, including bank statements and intercompany transactions. 
  • Ensure adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and internal control procedures.
  • Monitor compliance with relevant accounting regulations and tax requirements. 
  • Conduct variance analysis to explain fluctuations in financial performance.
  • Supports the preparation of budgets and forecasts based on financial data.
  • Supports annual audit work, coordination, and outside CPA firm engagement to complete yearly 571L audit.
  • Works independently adhering to GAAP to post recurring month end journal entries, including, but not limited to pre-paid expense, payroll entries, and allocation entries. 
  • Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Assists in development and implementation of policies/procedures to assure compliance with new regulatory standards affecting Accounting.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES:

REQUIRED:  Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting or equivalent, plus 5 or more years of progressive accounting experience, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.  Experience with Microsoft products.  Intermediate Excel skills required.  Excellent written and oral communication skills.

DESIRABLE:  Master’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or Healthcare Administration. Considerable prior experience at medical groups.  Experience with Netsuite and healthcare EHR/EM
