UNICEF in the State of Palestine (SoP) works to uphold the rights of children to access services and protection, from early childhood through to adolescence. Our objective is to ensure that every child in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, irrespective of background or circumstance, has an equal chance to fulfil their potential.

How can you make a difference?
Classified by UNICEF as a level 3 emergency, the impact of the current ceasefire has yet to be fully realized with unclear future governance structures, unclear long term funding mechanisms and continued violence. The Health Team in Gaza has substantial programming to roll out in 2026 and into 2027 with dozens of grants and donors. Some of that work will be expanding NICU/PICU services and support to try to improve maternal health and neonatal health. The current team requires additional human resources to achieve these results for children.
The Child Protection Officer will be based in the Gaza Field Office in the State of Palestine and will report to the P4 Child Protection Manager based in Gaza.
The Child Protection Officer reports to the Child Protection Manager for supervision. The Child Protection Officer will serve as the Gaza Technical Focal Point for Disability Inclusion, Gender-Based Violence, and Risk Mitigation.
S/he will provide professional technical, operational and administrative assistance throughout the programming process for the child protection programmes/projects through the application of theoretical and technical skills in researching, collecting, analyzing, and presenting technical programme information while learning organizational rules, regulations and procedures to support the development and formulation of the Child Protection Programme within the Country Programme.
