About Hearth

Hearth is the AI growth system for local home improvement small businesses. We build revenue-critical software for home improvement contractors — the roofers, HVAC techs, and builders who keep America running.

Our platform helps real business owners win more jobs, protect profit margins, and manage homeowner relationships professionally so they can build generational companies for their families and communities.

We are now building the next layer: a personal AI employee for every small business in the trades focused on autonomously generating sales for America’s home improvement pros. An assistant who answers every call 24/7, qualifies leads, books appointments, follows up on quotes and estimates, and helps small business owners go from missing half of their business to capturing all of it.

With 15,000+ paying customers, default profitability, and backing from some of the world’s best investors (Founder’s Fund, 8VC, Human Capital, etc.), Hearth is focused on bringing AI to the trades.

The Opportunity

We are searching for the right strong frontend engineer who will help us achieve our vision of helping millions of real local businesses succeed - someone who treats product quality as seriously as our customers treat their craft.

We are searching for the right high-judgment Senior Frontend Engineer (React) to raise the bar on frontend quality and deliver powerful AI-powered workflows in a simple, reliable, intuitive way.

You will take data-heavy, form-heavy, workflow-driven systems and make them simple and dependable for non-technical business owners at scale. Today, our customers depend on Hearth to run their businesses. When our technology works, contractors win more jobs. The frontend is where all of that comes together. You will take ownership of that customer experience and make it feel effortless.

What You'll Do:
  • Lead management workflows — displaying, filtering, and acting on high volumes of inbound data from calls, texts, and web forms
  • AI messaging interfaces — building the UI layer on top of our AI communication engine, where contractors review, customize, and send AI-generated messages
  • Quoting and invoicing tools — complex form flows with validation, calculations, and edge cases that matter (wrong number format, missing fields, partial data)
  • Integrations UI — connecting with third-party services like Twilio, payment processors, and CRMs, and surfacing that data cleanly
  • Automation configuration — letting non-technical users set up AI-powered workflows without breaking things

What We’re Looking For:
  • React depth. 4–8 years building production SaaS applications with modern React. Hooks, async state management, complex form logic. You’ve built real features for real users and dealt with the messy parts — validation, permissions, error states, slow connections.
  • API fluency. You’re comfortable integrating with REST APIs, handling async errors gracefully, and building UI that degrades well when the backend doesn’t cooperate.
  • Product instinct. You think about the person using what you build. When a design is ambiguous, you ask questions instead of guessing. When a requirement doesn’t make sense, you push back. You’ve built software for non-technical users and understand that simplicity is harder than complexity.
  • Self-testing discipline. You try your own features before you ship them. You think about what happens when the input is empty, malformed, or unexpected. Bugs that a user would hit on first use don’t make it past you.
  • Communication. You can explain a technical trade-off to a non-technical teammate in a few clear sentences. You’re comfortable working directly with backend engineers, customer success, and sales.
  • Startup velocity. You’ve worked somewhere that ships fast and iterates. You’re energized by that, not stressed by it.<
