We are seeking candidates for the position of Shift Foreman/Fleet Maintenance Manager - Bus Garages (2010) in our City/Suburban (Metro) Transit Maintenance Shops

Salary Range: Min: $70,668.00 - Mid: $88,348.00 - Max: $106,028.00 

       

OVERALL DESCRIPTION

Responsible for effective supervision of maintenance personnel and oversees location operations.

DISCIPLINE RESPONSIBILITIES

VEM Bus Operations

NOTE: MAY INCLUDE 2 OR MORE DISCIPLINES

I. General Maintenance Manager Disciplines

  1. Manages a group of employees with minimum direction; schedules the work to maximize economic, efficient, and safe work standards, and to promote continuous improvement in safety, reliability, and customer satisfaction. 
  2. Responsible for major vehicle and/or building overhaul and minor refurbishment programs including preventive maintenance, inspection, and failure diagnosis/analysis.
  3. Responsible for controlling labor and material expenditures to comply with budgetary limitation. Also issues material requisitions.
  4. Communicates with union personnel and other supervisors to coordinate work activities, etc. 
  5. Maintain accurate records on requisitions, work/employee schedules and reports, to reduce waste and loss of manpower.
  6. Responsible for providing technical assistance and support in the repair and/or maintenance of equipment or buildings.
  7. Monitor and evaluate the performance and skill levels of various types of technical and   service personnel.
  8. Implement Authority practices and policies consistent with “good industrial practice”.
  9. Develop cost effective maintenance practices for implementation throughout operations.
  10. Plan and forecast material and labor needs consistent with operating requirements within depots.
  11. Responsible for collecting data on units/repairs to track reliability, and perform trend analysis.
  12. Assists engineering in various design changes in an effort to improve vehicles and/or buildings and customer service issues.
  13. Responsible for maintaining a safe, clean and productive environment.
  14. Responsible for instructing, training and testing newly transferred and hired employees.
  15. Ensure fair treatment and equal opportunity for all employees in the section/department.
  16. Complies with all Authority and departmental safety and security policies and procedures as well as all applicable job safety responsibilities. Reports any safety concerns, compromises or hazards affecting operations, the public, self and/or other employees. Responsible for personal safety and is encouraged to promote the safety of others.

DISCIPLINE RESPONSIBILITIES

VEM Bus Operations (Specific Disciplines)

A. Electrical/Electronic Disciplines

  1. Supervises the troubleshooting, diagnosing, repair and maintenance of electronic/electrical equipment and systems for revenue vehicles non-revenue equipment, circuit boards, and other related component parts or electrical facilities.
  2. Directs and monitors the maintenance and preventive maintenance on electrical/electronic equipment, replacing and repairing, re-fabricating, and rebuilding all parts. 
  3. Implements, operates and maintains procedures for testing equipment, also provides proper calibration schedules, and guidelines.
  4. Evaluates existing prints, schematics, etc. Works with Engineering to get documents updated so they can be reissued using the ECN system.
  5. Investigates modifications to improve reliability of troublesome units and maintains accurate and thorough failure data to perform trend analysis.
  6. Validates repairs to meet acceptable standards for workmanship.
