Senior Scientist
What you will do
Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will join the Genetic Medicines team in Thousand Oaks, CA. As a new member of this team, you will be responsible for generating and implementing novel methods to deliver RNA-based therapies to previously unreachable cellular destinations across Amgen’s therapeutic areas.
Help identify and implement new technologies to accelerate discovery at the leading edge of targeted delivery
Generate and bring to life new approaches for realizing how extrahepatic RNA therapeutics can be deployed
Collaborate closely with disease area, computational biology, and therapeutic development teams to make actionable decisions as a technical and intellectual subject matter expert
Present research findings to cross-functional groups at internal and external meetings and publish scientific findings in peer-reviewed forums

Basic Qualifications:
Doctorate degree PhD OR PharmD OR MD [and relevant post-doc where applicable]
Or
Master’s degree and 3 years of relevant scientific experience
Or
Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of relevant scientific experience
Preferred Qualifications:
PhD or Master’s degree in Cell and Molecular Biology, Genomics, Genetics Biochemistry, or related disciplines with 2+years relevant industry or post-doc experience.
Familiarity with oligonucleotide therapeutics or complex biologics
Hands on experience with molecular and cellular biology techniques
In vivo pharmacology or drug delivery model development experience
Experience in design, execution, and optimization of experiments to evaluate intracellular perturbations and systemic responses to nucleic acid therapeutic delivery
Experimental design of biodistribution, tissue and cellular level trafficking and functional delivery studies
Independently plan experiments and collaborate with cross-functional partners to develop novel platform-specific structure activity studies
Demonstrated track record of independent critical thinking, complex problem solving, and innovative research, evidenced by significant scientific contributions
Excellent organizational and communication skills to give presentations in team meetings along with the ability to work in a flexible team-oriented environment

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
