Position Specific Description Under direct supervision, this job applies diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices to a broad variety of assignments and related fields to support NextEra’s Fleet of nuclear generating stations. You'll get exposure to real projects and challenges in an innovative and fast-paced environment while you gain professional experience. You will also participate in engaging summer events plus work on projects with other interns and employees beyond your core work area. Projects include evaluating remote inspection opportunities (drones, submarines, crawlers, robotics), evaluation of heat exchanger tube degradation and thermal performance optimization of nuclear stations. Work will also include supporting daily power plant operations and maintenance. Some of the responsibilities for our plant internships are listed below: · Apply standard engineering practices and techniques to specific engineering situations. · Participate in the analysis and evaluation of engineering problems associated with assigned engineering discipline while developing and testing optimum solutions. · Evaluates data and recognizes discrepancies in results. · Prepare and present reports summarizing results of technical evaluations and recommendations. · Coordinate engineering activities with other engineering departments and with other company departments. · Acquire knowledge of an operating nuclear power plant through team interaction and self-directed training. · Learn safe work practices at the plant and industrial settings. · Collaborate with other interns and departments on projects. · Conduct field walkdowns with various departments. · Interact and remotely support engineering functions at other NextEra nuclear plants and the corporate office * Majors Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Nuclear Engineering Job Overview To be considered for an internship, you must be actively enrolled at a college or university as a full-time student seeking a bachelor’s degree or higher. You must also have a current cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher (on a 0.00 to 4.00 scale). Job Duties & Responsibilities · Assists department with assigned projects · Completes challenging projects and assignments · Presents final project to senior leadership at the end of the internship · Assumes responsibility for own travel, lodging, and transportation necessary to be available for the program · Performs other job-related duties as assigned Required Qualifications · High school grad / GED · Maintain active enrollment in a Bachelor or higher degree program · Maintain cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher Preferred Qualifications · None
