Role Overview

The VP, Innovation & Transformation – Legal & Compliance (L&C) will be responsible for executing Blackstone’s initiatives to improve how L&C operates internally and collaborates with law firm partners. This role will focus on delivering technology implementations, process improvements, and measurable operational efficiencies. The VP will work closely with L&C leadership, Blackstone’s technology and operations teams, and external partners to ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and with tangible results.

Key Responsibilities

1. Execute L&C Technology and Process Initiatives

• Research and evaluate emerging AI and legal technology solutions, aligning them to L&C’s operational needs.

• Build and execute business cases for technology adoption, including ROI analysis, implementation plans, and success metrics.

• Manage end-to-end delivery of tech projects—from vendor selection through rollout—ensuring seamless integration into existing workflows.

• Partner with global teams to ensure solutions meet jurisdictional requirements and can scale across the organization.

2. Drive Operational Transformation

• Lead cross-functional project teams to implement process improvements, knowledge management tools, and automation solutions.

• Oversee vendor onboarding, contract management, and performance tracking for L&C technology providers.

• Develop and deliver training programs to ensure adoption of new tools and processes.

• Monitor, measure, and report on project outcomes, making adjustments to ensure sustained impact.

3. Strengthen Law Firm Collaboration

• Execute initiatives to improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness in law firm engagements, including alternative fee arrangements and process streamlining.

• Manage the preparation and execution of annual law firm rate negotiations, ensuring data-driven decision-making.

• Facilitate regular feedback sessions with law firm partners to identify improvement opportunities and track progress.

• Support adoption of new technologies and workflows with law firm partners to improve service delivery.

4. Collaboration & Reporting

• Work closely with L&C leadership to align execution priorities with strategic objectives.

• Partner with technology, procurement, and finance teams to ensure coordinated delivery of initiatives.

• Maintain clear, regular communication with stakeholders on project status, risks, and results.

• Track and report performance metrics across all initiatives, ensuring accountability for results.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree required; JD or equivalent legal qualification preferred. MBA or advanced degree in business, operations, or technology is a plus.

• Experience: 8+ years in operations, technology implementation, legal operations, or related fields, with a proven track record of delivering complex projects. Consulting or financial services experience preferred.

• Technology Execution: Hands-on experience implementing technology solutions and optimizing workflows at scale; familiarity with AI applications in legal and compliance contexts.
