The Boeing Company is currently seeking an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Governance Lead to join the Boeing AI Operations & Governance organization.  This team ensures compliance, accountability, and efficiency of Boeing AI capabilities & platforms. The AI Governance Lead will be based in one of the following locations: Everette, WA, El Segundo, CA, Long Beach, CA, St. Louis, MO, Huntsville, AL, or Cambridge, MA. This position will focus on driving compliance, risk management, and operational governance of AI-enabled systems across Boeing engineering programs.  

At Boeing, we are accelerating the adoption of AI across our product and service offerings. With that acceleration comes the need for an AI governance leader to help manage the governance lifecycle for AI-enabled engineering systems, establish and maintain AI compliance frameworks, embed AI governance in program teams. As part of the role, you will partner with engineering, legal, cybersecurity, product security, privacy, and information technology to ensure AI-enabled solutions are designed, validated, deployed, and monitored in alignment with Boeing policies and applicable standards and regulations.  

Position Responsibilities:  

  • Lead the governance lifecycle for AI-enabled engineering systems, including policy interpretation, control design, implementation oversight, and continuous monitoring. 

  • Translate regulatory and industry standards (e.g., NIST, ISO, FAA/EASA, DoD) into actionable controls and engineering requirements. 

  • Establish and maintain AI compliance frameworks: risk registers, control catalogs, model documentation (model cards, data lineage), traceability, and configuration management. 

  • Oversee AI testing, validation, and verification protocols, including robustness, safety, reliability, fairness/bias, privacy, security, explainability, and human-in-the-loop considerations. 

  • Implement governance for MLOps pipelines, datasets, and tooling: access controls, change management, versioning, approvals, audit trails, and monitoring/alerting. 

  • Drive audit readiness and evidence collection; manage internal/external assessments and corrective action plans. 

  • Participate in AI risk review boards; facilitate risk acceptance, mitigation plans, and executive reporting. 

  • Collaborate with program teams to embed AI governance in engineering development gates and safety/quality processes. 

  • Develop training, guidance, and playbooks to uplift AI governance capabilities across engineering teams. 

  • Track metrics and KPIs for AI risk posture, compliance status, incident trends, and control effectiveness; report to senior leadership. 

  • Engage subsidiaries, suppliers and partners to ensure AI governance requirements are cascaded and verified. 

  • Lead incident and change management for AI-enabled systems, including post-incident reviews and lessons learned integration. 

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience): 

  • 5+ years of experience in Artificial Intelligence (AI) governance, data governance, or related governance / compliance roles  

  • 5+ years of experience working with or developing standards and regulations 

  • 10+ years of experience getting cross-functional alignment 

  • 5+ years of experience developing scalable compliance frameworks 

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience): 

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, computer science, computer engineering, software engineering or equivalent experience 

  • 5+ years of experience in Artificial Intelligence (AI) governance 

  • 3+ years of experience leading Data and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Governance Programs 

  • 5+ years of experience working in safety-critical or highly regulated industries  

Travel: 

Ability to travel 10-20% of the time
