About the Role
The Backend Developer for Community at Glassdoor plays a key role in optimizing and enhancing the community features of the Glassdoor platform. This position is focused on creating and maintaining the technical infrastructure that supports the community aspects of the website and mobile app. In addition, you will be working with other developers around the company to collaborate on advanced features, share your ideas during work through the whole feature-development cycle with the product, and much more.

What You'll Do
- Feature Development: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, UX designers, and client-side developers to design and implement new features and functionalities related to the Glassdoor community.
- Data Management: Develop and maintain databases to store and manage user-generated content, ensuring data integrity and reliability. Implement data retrieval and storage solutions that can scale to accommodate growing community activity.
- Performance Optimization: Continuously monitor and optimize the backend systems to ensure fast and reliable performance. Identify and address any bottlenecks or scalability issues to improve the overall user experience.
- Security and Compliance: Implement robust security measures to protect user data and maintain compliance with data privacy regulations. Keep the platform safe from spam, fraud, and abuse.
Required Technical Skills
- Foundational understanding of backend development
- NodeJS
- Understanding of the database theory and ability to work with modern databases

Hourly pay rate: $40.00
Glassdoor Internship Program
- 12 week virtual program where you'll manage projects and tasks, participate in engaging virtual events, and learn valuable skills!
- Full-time program (8 hours per day, 40 hours per week).
- Fully remote: work almost anywhere within the United States.
- Fully paid program and paid company holidays.
- Two cohort dates:
- May 28 - August 16, 2024
- June 3 - August 23, 2024
