Summary

SRP is currently seeking a Laboratory Technician to fill a position in its Environmental Laboratory & Field Services department. Individuals with experience in the analysis of environmental inorganic contaminants in an Arizona Department of Health Services-licensed laboratory are strongly encouraged to apply. SRP’s laboratory provides analytical services to internal customers to support environmental regulatory compliance and enables SRP to realize its goals and objectives for providing low cost/high value water and energy services.

What You'll Do

•    Performs sample preparation and inorganic chemistry/microbiology analyses at SRP’s environmental laboratory in accordance with established analytical procedures, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications (e.g., metals digestions and extractions, pH, alkalinity, conductivity, gravimetric methods, mercury analysis, total coliform/E.coli, heterotrophic plate count, etc.)
•    Produces data that consistently meets the data quality objectives and turnaround time required by SRP customers
•    Performs analysis of environmental samples using laboratory instrumentation under the supervision of a chemist. Laboratory instrumentation may include: auto-titrator, mercury analyzer, flash point tester, pH/conductivity meters, and other equipment.
•    Possesses experience working with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), including data entry and review
•    Performs proficiency testing and validation studies as necessary
•    Performs instrument maintenance and trouble-shooting activities as needed
•    Works independently, safely, and efficiently in the performance of job duties
•    Maintains effective working relationships with other employees, customers, and the public 
•    Possesses the ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions, and to accurately and legibly complete applicable paperwork. 
•    Performs other duties and analyses as assigned.

What It Takes To Succeed

• Preferred candidates will have experience performing gravimetric analyses (total dissolved solids, total suspended solids), auto-titration/wet chemistry methods (e.g., SM 2320B, SM 2510B, and SM 4500H+B), mercury analysis (EPA 245.1, 7471B), flash point, microbiological analyses (total coliforms and heterotrophic plate count), metals digestions and toxicity characteristic leaching procedure (TCLP) extractions and digestions. 

Experience
