Job Description

Department Summary- The Global Technology transfer team is focused on implementing Guardant Health workflows at leading cancer centers in the EU and AMEA through licensing its technology and supporting patients/biopharma companies from that region.

About the Role:

As a Staff Application Scientist, you will be responsible for validating and improving the ‘sample to reporting’ workflow on the newly launched Guardant Infinity platform to serve the needs of GH lab customers. This role entails wet-lab and dry-lab experiments to enable deployments, and improvements to workflow in various areas including; lab automation, reagents performance, bioinformatics outputs, curated reports etc. With the breadth of this role, you will interact with the teams from various functions including product development, technology development, clinical-operations, and quality. This role is based in Guardant Health’s San Diego office.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop training material and IFU’s with focus on external sites.
  • Identify and lead areas for improvement, propose, test, and implement solutions. 
  • Write and execute feasibility, development, and validation study plans and reports.
  • Analyze and present data from experiments.
  • Support the planning discussions with new laboratories about the requirements for installing Guardant Health’s sample preparation workflow.
  • Work with quality assurance to ensure all documentation is accurately completed per regulatory requirements.
  • Occasional travels to meet customers based in other geographies to gather customer feedback and train field members.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of applicable experience in a molecular biology/biochemistry-related field (industry or academic)
  • Hands-on experience running and troubleshooting cfDNA and/or NGS assay applications
  • Experience operating liquid handlers, sequencers, and nucleic acid quantification instruments
  • Experience supporting clinical laboratories and knowledge of programming languages like SQL, Python is a plus (Bonus: direct experience with epigenomic data)
  • Ability to successfully balance and prioritize multiple ongoing projects/tasks
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) and ability to present data to internal and external teams.

Additional Information

Hybrid Work Model: At Guardant Health, we have defined days for in-person/onsite collaboration and work-from-home days for individual-focused time.
