Position Summary

Under the direction of the Sr. Manager, Community Outreach, the Senior Partner Community Outreach is responsible for the development and facilitation of education and awareness regarding the lifesaving gifts of blood, organ, & tissue donation. As an extension of Versiti within targeted communities, this individual will establish and maintain partnerships with local leaders, organizations, schools, and media to further the mission of donation especially in underserved areas. This leader will be responsible for outreach that aligns directly with Versiti's public campaigns and core programs highlighting the need for diverse donors. This person in this role will proactively:

• Work closely with the Sr. Manager to manage budget and data

- Support blood disease patients (sickle cell disease) and manage stories for marketing and other purposes

- Support events and work closely with the Sr. Manager of Community Outreach on events and partnerships

- Strong support and attend larger partnership meetings and present to leadership updates from the team

- Support Versiti's 5 footprint and AVP management alongside of the Sr. Manager of Community Outreach

• Build trusted relationships to dispel myths that hinder individuals from considering blood, organ, & tissue donation

• Provide clarity to help others make informed decisions about their capacity to be regularly scheduled blood donors and/or the importance of being a registered organ & tissue donor

- Attend Versiti community tabling events, strengthen relationships and attend meetings as needed

• Lead coordination of internal and external task groups that promote community engagement, facilitate resolutions to community needs, and support strong relationship building among targeted and broader communities -50% blood and 50% OPO management

Responsibilities

  • Act as liaison with the community and represents Versiti as directed
  • Develop and implement goals and objectives for community outreach in target markets
  • Communicate effectively, capable of determining how best to reach different audiences and implementing communications based on that understanding
  • Attend and/or lead training programs, modules, workshops, medical/technical-specific seminars, and meetings to keep up-to-date on project objectives and new policies/procedures for conducting Community Outreach
  • Assist and collaborate on the creation of monthly reports of outreach, research, and educational activities
  • Ensure that consent/research authorization documents are signed and maintained as per protocol/department/marketing policies
  • Collaborate and/or lead special initiatives including special requests for research, potential grants, community collaborations, or regulatory compliance projects
  • Capacity to serve on national committees related to the work of blood services, sickle cell disease, serving diverse communities (Sick Cells, SCDAA, etc.) in support of building thought leadership and advocacy for these efforts
  • Train volunteers on special initiatives. Be a resource for new team members and other Versiti staff
  • Good decision-maker, with demonstrated success at making timely decisions that keep the organization moving forward
  • Flexibility and dedication for handling demanding, irregular work schedule under pressure
