Zurich North America is seeking an experienced Chief Risk Engineering Officer to lead our US Zurich Resilience Solutions (ZRS) team. Reporting directly to the Head of Zurich Resilience Solutions N.A., our preference is for this role to be based in our New York office, with consideration for other Zurich office locations.
This role requires Strategic Leadership to develop and execute the strategy for the US Risk Engineering business, ensuring superior service for customers and business partners across various segments. This leader will manage the Middle Market, Property, Machinery Breakdown, Marine, Excess and Surplus, Construction, Casualty, and Technical Risk Engineering Teams.
This is a critical role, and the Chief Risk Engineering Officer will support the ZRS growth initiatives over the next 5 years and beyond. This leader works with business partners to address organizational service needs, is responsible for addressing overall strategy and objectives, product design, development and delivery of Risk Engineering services. Responsibilities Include:
- Directs and manages a senior team of technical managers and specialists that provide technical direction to multiple segments within Risk Engineering North America.
- Manages the strategic relationship and collaboration with Claims and Product Underwriting and Business Unit underwriting leadership.
- Identifies emerging risks and market trends that may impact business results.
- Ensures the Risk Engineering division has a strategic and operational plan that impacts business success or failure.
- Manages the relationship with business partners by conducting line of business, book of business, class and segment analysis to ensure profitability and growth.
- Identifies best leadership, process improvement practices, methodologies and tools to enable more effective collaboration with customers and business partners in meeting their service needs.
- Interfaces with the Global Risk Engineering teams to insure global consistency in our strategy and delivery.
Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree and 12 or more years of experience in the Risk Engineering area
AND - Commercial Insurance experience
- Advanced knowledge of exposures and controls and risk engineering methodologies
- People management experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced knowledge of Risk Engineering methodologies, and experience working with multiple lines of business within the Commercial Insurance Industry
- Experience managing managers and leading and developing large teams
- Strong delivery and innovation capabilities
- Progressive experience in leadership, organizational development, problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Advanced skills and experience in all aspects of consulting, partnering with business leaders, market facing and relationship building
- Excellent organization skills, interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to communicate to all levels of management
- MBA
Compensation for roles at Zurich varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. As required by local law, Zurich provides in good faith a reasonable range of compensation for roles. For additional information about our Total Rewards, click here. Candidates with salary expectations outside of the range are encouraged to apply, and will be considered based on experience, skill, and education. The starting salary range for this position is $193,700 – $287,200.
