About the role

Summary

The Sr. Accountant will prepare and maintain financial reorders and record financial transactions properly; monitor cash management; analyze current costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred; and maintain various analytical supporting schedules. Must be a self-starter who can meet demanding deadlines and have the ability to interact productively with co-workers and outside service providers, and have involvement in payroll, insurance, relationship management, and other administrative and operational tasks associated with Thomas Weisel Investment Management (TWIM) Family Office.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities 

  • Cash Management: monitor daily cash needs, recommending and executing daily cash movements as needed, and ensure timely recording in QuickBooks; prepare and initiate all wire transfers, EFTs, ACHs, and bank transfers; record and execute all fund activities related to capital calls, distributions/redemptions from investments.
  • Financial Statements and Accounting Systems: prepare monthly and quarterly financial statement reporting for 6-8 entities, including Balance Sheet, Income Statement, and other supporting schedules; reconcile monthly bank and brokerage accounts; record all fund activities related to capital calls, distributions/redemptions, and valuation adjustments; record and track stock distributions and donations, including valuation adjustments; oversee month-end close processes, including preparation of monthly journal entries, account reconciliations, and review of P&L for accuracy.
  • Human Resources: perform bi-weekly payroll processing using ADP (Client Service call in) for <10 employees; prepare journal entry to record salaries and taxes; monitor PTO accruals; supervise background checks; communicate with and act as the main HR contact for household staff and other employees, including sending yearly W-2s to employees. 
  • Income Taxes: prepare, compile, and maintain supporting documents for Federal and State taxes for multiple taxpayers; coordinate and submit all tax documentation to external CPAs; and remit electronic tax deposits. Responsible for review of Forms 1099 at year-end and ensuring collection of Form W-9 from applicable vendors during the year. Maintain and updating tax capital account schedules for investment funds.
  • Maintain relationship with insurance broker. Review and maintain various insurance coverages and policies for homeowners, liability, collections, auto, worker’s compensation, etc. Oversee any claims. Responsible for preparing for and overseeing annual insurance renewal process and worker’s compensation audit.
  • Maintain relationships with the primary banking team and Stifel brokerage personnel, opening/closing accounts and keeping all accounts in good standing.
  • Act as administrator for QuickBooks and ADP for TWIM, interfacing with vendor and IT departments for software upgrades or issues.
  • Perform special projects as assigned, which may make up 10-20% of your time.

Qualifications 

  • Proven track record of working well in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Responsible for the most complex activities associated with general ledger, financial/operating reports, and budget analysis.
  • Experience working with wire transfers and general banking activities, fund accounting, and have a thorough understanding of accounting, financial, and basic tax concepts.

Education & Experience 

  • Minimum Required: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Minimum Required: 6+ years of related experience.
  • Prior supervisory/coaching-related experience preferred.

Systems & Technology 

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, primarily in Excel and Outlook.
  • Expert knowledge of QuickBooks.
  • Working knowledge of Thomson One is preferred.

Base salary annualized range:  $100,000 - $110,000.  Actual salaries may vary, and may be based on several factors, including but not limited to each candidate’s qualifications, skills, and overall competencies for the position.
