BlackSky is looking for our first in-house Art Director. In this role, you will lead the evolution of our visual brand identity. You will partner within the marketing department and across the organization to create compelling content. You will drive standards and best practices to elevate the BlackSky brand. This position reports to the VP, Marketing and while the locations listed in the job posting are ideal, we would love candidates near either our Herndon, VA or Seattle, WA offices. We may also consider remote candidates in certain states.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with team to deliver creative solutions that aligned with the brand.
- Responsible for design including brand identify and visual communication to include print (including PowerPoint), digital and experiential.
- Determine design strategy and aid in developing and maintaining corporate identity.
- Experience working with UI/UX design and content creators to develop a robust visual communication program.
- Responsible for development, layout, and design of all external facing assets to include marketing collateral, sales enablement, web, tradeshow booths, interactive ads and landing pages.
- Report progress of projects at major stages of their conception, creation, and execution and ensure deadlines are met.
- Ensure designs and content reflect consistently and positively the brand image and company ideals.
- Work with internal and external strategic partners to create products using the most current industry best practices.
- Manage personal workload and surge design and video support with 3rd party vendors.
- Anticipate problems that may impede a project from completing on time and implement solutions.
- Evaluate trends, assessing new data, and keeping up to date with the latest marketing techniques.
- Interact with senior-level customers to build relations, introduce new technologies, and present opportunities for improvement.
- Other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in fine art, graphic design, communication, or other relevant field of study.
- At least 10 years of experience designing creative solutions.
- At least five years of experience of in a high growth, technology environment.
- Previous experience in the defense and intelligence industry.
- Experience with UX/UI and web development.
- Proficiency with design software such as Adobe Creative Cloud, Photoshop, InDesign and PowerPoint.
- Exceptional ability in typography, layout, and prototyping.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience within the space/satellite industry.
- Solid knowledge of photography and video production.
