Overview

The Assistant Operations Manager manage all aspects of housekeeping including event show care, changeovers, general upkeep of the facilities, and custodial services.

 

This role will pay a salary of $36,500 to $41,500.

About the Venue

Western Kentucky’s award-winning venue – the Owensboro Convention Center – is a full-service facility overlooking the scenic Ohio River in revitalized downtown Owensboro, Kentucky. The multi-purpose center boasts just under 102,000 sq. ft. of available space, including a 44,000+ sq. ft. exhibition hall, the 8,900+ sq. ft. Kentucky Legend® Pier outside over the scenic Ohio River, and additional ballroom, meeting, and pre-function space.

The Sportscenter, one of Owensboro’s most historic buildings, opened in 1949. It is a multi-purpose, 5,000-seat arena that hosts concerts, sporting events, graduations, trade shows, meetings, and receptions.

Responsibilities

• Utilize independent discretion when making decisions to further the objectives of the housekeeping operation
• Coordinate and communicate all relevant information regarding event show care, changeovers, general upkeep of the facilities, and custodial services
• Oversee all aspects of housekeeping operation
• Supervise and participate in day-to-day operations of the facility as needed
• Conduct meetings prior to each shift in order to review and/or distribute work assignments
• Recruit, onboard, and train part-time and temporary staff
• Enforce and implement building policies to maximize efficiency and effectiveness
• Ensure employees have the equipment and resources to perform the job efficiently
• Maintain employee paperwork including attendance, payroll, disciplinary procedures, etc
• Manage preventive and regular maintenance for all housekeeping facility-related equipment
• Assist in budget planning with the Operations Manager and Director of Operations
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED Required. Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college/university in a related field (Facility Management, Engineering, Sports Management, etc.) preferred.
• Two years’ experience performing facility operations or housekeeping management in a public facility
• Working knowledge of facility and arena operations, changeovers, set ups, maintenance and housekeeping
• Ability to oversee and direct staff
• Open to working nights, weekends and holidays, as well as additional hours when needed
• Ability to handle multiple tasks at one time
• Ability to meet deadlines and function in a high-pressure environment
