The Water Solutions team has a need for a self-driven Sustaining Project Engineer. As part of the project engineer role, you will be responsible for leading engineering support to the production organization to ensure deliveries and commitments are met. You’ll manage internal and external customer relationships while maintaining communication to management for safety and certification critical changes. Additionally, the role requires a strong understanding of root cause corrective action and change management. The Water Solutions team is looking for a strong leader with superb communication skills and a strong technical background, who wants to make an impact in the aerospace industry.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Confidently provide clear, concise communications with customers, peers, and Collins leadership
  • Lead Root Cause & Corrective Action (RCCA) efforts to identify causes and mitigation plans for issues affecting program productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction
  • Provide customer support for field failure investigations
  • Pursue cost saving opportunities to maximize project profitability
  • Consolidate and present plans and progress reports relating to business aspects of the project
  • Liaise between project management and planning, project teams, and production line management as necessary to support delivery output.
  • Support quality investigations as necessary when piece-part issues affect product deliveries
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate engineering level and qualification level testing. Analyze, interpret, and report out test results
  • Verify internal processes are being executed to reduce probability of engineering setbacks
  • Assess customer issues and develop resolutions that meet Collins and customer objectives
  • Read and interpret drawings, provide mark ups, and coordinate drawing releases
  • Conducting and supporting internal design reviews

QUALIFICATIONS YOU MUST HAVE:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience
  • U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or granted refugee or asylee status) as defined here: https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-22/chapter-I/subchapter-M/part-120/subpart-C/section-120.62

QUALIFICATIONS WE PREFER:

  • Aerospace Industry experience
  • Experience working with cross functional teams across department and business units
  • Experience with engineering change processes
  • Strong ability and proven track record of multitasking by owning several projects and running them simultaneously
  • Strong understanding of part production and assembly installation
  • NX (formally Unigraphics) (or Catia, Solidworks or other CAD programs)
  • Siemens Teamcenter
  • Experience with Qualification Test Programs for Boeing & Airbus programs highly desired
  • Experience with updating or authoring standard work and processes
  • Experience interpreting 2D drawings including a good understanding of GD&T and perform tolerance stack-ups.
  • Microsoft Office skills including Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, etc.
