Analogic is seeking a highly experienced Design Engineer with 5 or more years of hands-on experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of designing switching amplifiers and power supplies from inception to execution. The candidate should also possess expertise in designing and specifying magnetics from scratch, with a deep understanding of various topologies including H-bridge, Flyback, Resonant, Buck, Boost, etc. This position will be located in the Canton, MA office.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop switching amplifiers and power supplies from the ground up. Power supplies from 100 W to 100 kW, amplifiers operating from bus voltages 400 V to 2400V with output currents up to 400 Arms and 1200 Apk.
- Magnetics design and specification.
- Troubleshoot mixed signal circuits to the component level.
- Provide technical support and assistance to both internal and external customers.
- Document and maintain detailed development and test data.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, advanced degree preferred.
- 5-10 years of experience designing switching power supplies or amplifiers
- Medical experience is not required but it is helpful to be familiar with IEC 60601
- Power supplies and amplifiers switch in the 20 kHz to 100 kHz range
- Power supplies from 100W to 100 kW
- Amplifiers work from bus voltages ranging from 160V up to 2400V, output current 450 A continuous max and peak pulses up to 1200A (more if the amplifiers are configured in parallel)
- The candidates should be very comfortable with basic switching topologies e.g. flyback, full H-bridge, forward, resonant, etc.
- Simulation software is LT Spice and Matlab
- Schematic capture is OrCad/Allegro
- Magnetics design is also required
- Software/Firmware ability with microprocessors and FPGAs is a plus
- Needs to be hands on in the lab
- Ability to interpret and follow electrical and mechanical schematics accurately.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
