About the role

The Chief Financial Officer requires strong analytical abilities and demands fast, but carefully thought-out results. Strong leadership, independence, initiative, and control of the work process from beginning to end are necessary. The CFO will be accountable for leading finance activities including budgeting, accounting, financial reporting, cash, credit, and risk management.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES OF POSITION:

  • Provide input into and drive the implementation of strategic business decisions and organizational goals
  • Develop the annual business plan which documents short and long-term objectives with a focus on sustainable growth
  • Track goal accountability and performance
  • Represent the organization as an executive leader to employees, subcontractors, clients, and communities demonstrating the organization’s mission, vision, and core values
  • Identify opportunities and drive improvement and consistency throughout the organization
  • Lead Finance, Accounting, Risk Management, Human Resources, and Information Technology operations and initiatives
  • Oversee accuracy, compliance, and standardization of accounting procedures, internal controls, auditing activities, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting
  • Develop financial metrics and monitors financial performance
  • Serve as a liaison with external firms and agencies including Financial Advisor, Banks, Insurance Agents, Surety Bonding Agent, Attorney, and Auditors
  • Manage tax liabilities, cash flows, bonding capacity, working capital and resources, investments, reserves, and credit
  • Monitor construction project profitability and participates in regular budget reviews
  • Responsible for procuring and managing liability and property insurance with proper coverage, inclusions, and exclusions
  • Analyze and advise on project-specific risk management areas and reviews contractual language
  • Oversee Human Resources strategy, operations, and initiatives providing guidance on policy development and implementation including competitive compensation and benefits programs
  • Monitor legal developments providing consultation on risk management matters, lien defense and subcontractor disputes
  • Oversee Information Technology strategy, operations, and initiatives providing guidance to the Managed Service Provider related to infrastructure, network, hardware, and software
  • Identify critical issues; facilitate and implement solutions to ensure organizational success

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least 5 years of experience in a designated CFO role
  • An active CPA highly preferred
  • Vista by Viewpoint software experience highly preferred
  • Construction accounting experience highly preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field from an accredited university
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Oversight of Human Resources and Risk Management departments + collaboration with an experienced Controller highly preferred
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
  • Must be able to pass a background check, in accordance with local law/regulations
