Job Description Summary
The Lead Deterministic Safety Analysis (DSA) Engineer position will make immediate contributions to the team responsible for BWRX-300 deterministic safety analyses, while being technically mentored by a team of high performing engineers. The DSA team is responsible for performing safety analysis in support of various applications for BWRX-300 transient analyses, thermal hydraulic analyses, containment analysis, and stability analysis.The individual will work within an energetic team environment to perform thermal-hydraulic and plant transient analyses to support a variety of applications encompassing BWRX-300 DSA. The position offers limitless opportunities to learn the fundamental bases of nuclear power plant operations and safety analysis by applying state-of-the-art thermal hydraulics methods to satisfy licensing requirements and solve real day-to-day plant problems. Additionally, this position has direct customer-facing opportunities through training, deliverables, and collaboration. The DSA team offers unique opportunities to create and/or improve cutting-edge automation and methods.
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities:
As the Lead Deterministic Safety Analysis Engineer, you will:
Lead a variety of projects including technical evaluations and analyses in the area of Anticipated Operational Occurrences, Anticipated Transients without Scram, Reactor Heat Balance, and Thermal Hydraulic Fuel Channel Analyses.
Perform plant thermal hydraulic evaluations and analyses in the areas of Containment, HELB, Fire Safe Shutdown, Annulus Pressurization Loads, and RIPD analyses.
Perform plant thermal hydraulic evaluations and analyses in the areas of BWR stability.
Deliver products at a consistently high and sustainable level in accordance with customer requirements, business procedures, and regulatory agency guidelines.
Utilize unique opportunities to create and/or improve cutting-edge automation and methods
Prepare thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, and calculations
Perform technical verification of engineering technical deliverables
Prepare, communicate, and present complex technical issues to internal and external customers and recommend solutions
Perform in cross-disciplinary settings, engaged with interfacing teams responsible for mechanical design, core design, licensing, systems design, or other affiliated organizations to find optimum customer solutions.
Ensure work is performed with high quality in accordance with regulatory rules and regulations, customer requirements, and business quality assurance standards.
Required Qualifications:
B.S. Degree in Engineering Discipline (Nuclear, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or similar).
At least 5 years of relevant nuclear experience
Eligibility Requirements:
This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
The preferred work location for this role is at the GEH Headquarters Wilmington, NC but Atlanta, GA will also be considered.
Desired Characteristics:
Master's degree in engineering; or Senior Reactor Operator Certification
