Responsibilities

What you get to do every day:
  • Monitor and maintain mission-critical applications and infrastructure across AWS cloud environments, on-premises data centers, and remote edge locations supporting secure government operations. 
  • Serve as the first line of defense in keeping systems running smoothly—monitoring dashboards, responding to alerts, and identifying potential issues before they impact operations. 
  • Utilize SIEM platforms to monitor security events, analyze logs, and identify potential security incidents or operational anomalies requiring escalation or action. 
  • Execute system changes, upgrades, and deployments following established change management procedures including change control board coordination, notifications, and scheduled maintenance windows. 
  • Develop and maintain backout plans for all system changes ensuring rapid recovery capability if issues arise during deployments or upgrades. 
  • Coordinate with developers, configuration control boards, engineering managers, and government program managers to schedule maintenance, communicate system status, and manage expectations. 
  • Monitor system health across diverse technology stack including PostgreSQL databases (RDS, Aurora, Redshift, Timescale DB), Kubernetes clusters, D messaging platforms (Kafka, RabbitMQ, Pulsar), and CI/CD pipelines. 
  • Follow troubleshooting guides and runbooks to diagnose and resolve issues, escalating to appropriate teams when needed while maintaining clear communication with stakeholders. 
  • Manage emergency response procedures including coordinating Authorized Outages when critical issues require immediate attention outside maintenance windows. 
  • Maintain and improve operational documentation including runbooks, troubleshooting guides, and system configuration documentation. 
  • Participate in shift rotations providing 24/7 operational support for globally dispersed systems, users, and mission-critical applications. 
  • Conduct routine system health checks, log reviews, and proactive monitoring to identify potential problems before they cause outages. 
  • Support edge computing deployments and coordinate with remote site operations to ensure connectivity and system functionality. 
  • Document incidents, actions taken, and resolutions to build organizational knowledge and support continuous improvement. 

Qualifications

Clearance Required: Active TS clearance (with SCI Eligibility) and eligibility to obtain CI Poly **We are not able to upgrade or sponsor clearances**

 

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience 
  • 3-5 years of experience in DevOps, systems administration, IT operations, or infrastructure support roles 
Required Skills:
  • Solid Linux command line skills with RHEL or Rocky Linux systems 
  • Experience following change management procedures and working with configuration control boards 
  • Strong communication skills with ability to interface effectively with technical teams, management, and government stakeholders 
  • Demonstrated ability to follow troubleshooting procedures and escalate appropriately when issues exceed knowledge or authority 
  • Experience monitoring systems and responding to alerts in production environments
