About the role

Yelp is looking for a Director to oversee all of the Learning and Development programming for Yelp’s Local Sales and Client Partner organizations of 1,600 Account Executives (AEs) and 150 Managers. The Director will partner closely with senior sales leadership to ensure training programs that support the entire learning and career journey, from Local Sales Account Executive to Manager, are aligned with driving top OKRs and strategic org initiatives. They will additionally be responsible for leading, managing and coaching the team who own development, administration and facilitation of content and design programming for classroom, virtual instructor-led training, online self-learning paths, in addition to larger organization initiatives and launches geared at increasing productivity and ramp time.
This is a full time role based in the United States.

What you'll do:

  • You will drive, in a measurable way, significant productivity increases for sales roles. Effectiveness in the role will be measured by bottom line business impact within the groups you serve (i.e., rev/rep, AE retention), knowledge retention and comprehension, and overall audience satisfaction.
  • You will partner with revenue org leaders and the Director, Local Sales Training to identify top strategic priorities for Local Account Executive and manager development, focusing on high priority, strategy-driven work and making data-driven decisions that shape training investments and programming. Staffing, resourcing and prioritizing accordingly.
  • You will partner with Biz Ops and utilize internal tools (surveys, focus groups, assessments, etc.) to  leverage insights to measure and report the sales training effectiveness; monitoring and reviewing the progress of learners and health of training programming. You will then be required to make data-driven recommendations and decisions to drive revenue org OKRs. 
  • You will coach, develop, motivate and hold your team accountable to deliver world-class and inclusive training. 
  • You will share best practices when it comes to instructional design, time and project management, managing Yelp’s Learning Management System, working cross-functionally, stakeholder management, and internal written and verbal communication.
  • You will own and inform the process for collaboration with senior sales leadership, other key stakeholders and cross-functional partners to ensure a healthy feedback loop.
  • You will lead the overall design and on-going development of rich, interactive virtual training and online learning that engages at every stage of AE and management career paths - including onboarding, continued development, skill support and career development programs.
  • You will partner and work cross-functionally with Product Marketing to support the content creation for communicating and training on important product experiments, updates, rollouts, and process changes. 
  • You will oversee your team’s development and pilot of new training materials, approaches and programs to optimize programming for behavioral change and business results.
  • You will partner with Senior Comms Lead to produce compelling and clear training-related communications to all levels of the Local Sales org. Manage inbound questions with helpful and responsive answers/troubleshooting.
  • You will oversee the administration and implementation of Yelp’s Learning Management System (Exceed), as well as proactively explore externally to source best practices, tools, software and approaches to elevate Yelp’s tech stack. This will require cross-functional collaboration with Tech Sourcing and SMT in the selection, deployment, and change management surrounding training technologies to be used by Sales to meet our initiatives.

What it takes to succeed:

  • You have 10+ years of experience working within a sales setting.
  • You have 5+ years of experience as a people leader, managing teams in the sales or L&D space.
  • You have 3+ years of experience managing L&D programming; including instructional design, project management, and stakeholder management.
  • You have a passion for teaching, coaching, and training. Creating content that engages an audience and changes behavior excites you!
  • You must have experience with and aptitude for technology; experience working within a Learning Management System 
  • You can think linearly to identify the steps or dependencies required to complete a project.
  • You can think strategically by prioritizing and managing multiple projects simultaneously; individually and as a team manager.
  • You have strong written and oral communication skills.
  • You have strong analytics and reporting skills.
  • You must be able to produce documents, checklists, reports, registration lists, etc. that are polished and organized.
