About the role

Job Description

Since 1901, Nordstrom has been committed to providing customers with the best possible service and experience in retail. We have a relentless drive to exceed our customers’ expectations. We have long recognized the importance of having strong capabilities in both Physical and Digital retailing and we continue to innovate on how we can help our customers Feel Good and Look Their Best. Our goal is to be the best fashion retailer in a digitally connected world. Given these ambitions coupled with the ever-changing and increasingly complex retail landscape, Nordstrom has established a centralized team, Enterprise Operations, that partners closely with leaders across the enterprise to deliver step-changes in the Company’s results. We are searching for a leader to join our team and help us to transform enterprise strategy into sustainable, consistent, and agile delivery.

We are hiring a Senior Manager, Program Management for Enterprise Operations. You will play a critical role in driving our transformation roadmap, focused currently on Inventory Control and Loss as an enterprise program and FY2025 JWN Key Tactic. You’ll do this by identifying the immerging risks in our business, develop and leading the enterprise control tower, and shaping and influencing the necessary operational, financial, and technical controls needed over our inventory to reduce risk, increase our confidence and predictability of financial outcomes, and align our physical, logical, and financial views of inventory. This role will also serve as a critical coordination point across multiple stakeholder groups and requires an experienced professional able to facilitate and drive results in a fast paced and demanding environment, leveraging their strong interpersonal, leadership, communication, and analytical skills.

A Day in the Life...

  • Support the newly created Control Activation Team, a cross-functional working group tasked with identifying emerging inventory-related risks. Lead the identification, prioritization, and analysis of risks while also developing the proactive monitoring and signals necessary to identify potential future issues.
  • Develop sustainable monitoring of the key signals that would indicate potential inventory risks and necessitate immediate intervention. Drive cross-functional executional clarity (who, what, when, how often) for all monitoring to ensure signals are turned into action.
  • Work directly with subject matter experts to identify and remediate areas of risk and inventory-related control gaps that require incremental monitoring and preventative controls, prioritizing those that pose the largest financial and operational risk.
  • Partner with core Inventory Control & Loss workstreams and leadership to identify, ideate, implement, and verify that new controls appropriately address Control Activation Team findings (current and future) and minimize risk across our complex operations.
  • Influence program and adjacent roadmaps to tighten the inventory control environment, increase operational signals and visibility, and align our physical, logical, and financial views of inventory.
  • Manage multiple stakeholder groups across the enterprise (including product, tech, accounting, finance, operations, and internal audit), creating alignment and prioritization, raising issues requiring decisions or input, mitigating risks, and resolving conflicts.
  • Manage and lead complex projects, understand interdependencies, identify solutions that consider sequencing and value creation, and optimize for enterprise outcomes.
  • Engage senior leadership by proactively reporting progress, identifying roadblocks, and proposing workable solutions to challenges.
  • Supplement other roles and responsibilities to deliver the program’s initiatives, as needed.

You Own this if you Have...

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA, CPA, or relevant master’s degree a plus.
  • 9+ years of experience in program management, product management, management consulting, finance, internal audit, or inventory operations with progressively larger responsibility supporting cross-functional teams
  • Retail and finance/accounting experience required; audit experience a plus
