With supervision, will perform high level duties and/or research functions for the purpose of developing a working knowledge of a specific area of study. Open only to students enrolled in an internship, Co-op, or Practicum course.Job Description:
Description of Duties and Tasks
Assists the Director of the Center for Government and Civic Service (CGCS) in all aspects of CGCS operations.
Conducts special projects including the design of programs and initiatives, including conceptualization, planning, facilitation and assessment under the direct supervision/guidance of the Director.
Advises the CGCS Director on student perspectives and needs.
Communicates with students, staff, partners, and stakeholders addressing issues when able, and coordinating with the Director when guidance is needed.
Conducts research into information management and in consultation with the Director creates information management procedures for the CGCS including the construction of distribution lists, organization of a shared/common drive (Google), references required for the CGCS and documentation of past CGCS initiatives and events.
Assists in all aspects of administration with an emphasis on budgeting and purchasing.
Assists in CGCS communication and outreach.
Additional Job Specific Duties
Seeks opportunities to leverage computer science skills to optimize CGCS use of information technology.
Develops relationships with students, staff, partners, and stakeholders, ensuring relationships are identified and turned over to the Director or other appropriate staff (including future interns).
Documents all activities to facilitate transition upon completion of internship.
Knowledge
Understanding of standard office applications, ability to use word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
Ability to communicate in orally and in writing in English.
