About the Role
We are seeking a Commercial Counsel to join our expanding team. This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with teams across Life360 to support a high-growth phase for the Life360 family of mobile software applications and hardware devices, including Tile and Jiobit.
In this position, you will play a critical role negotiating and drafting commercial and technology agreements, including procurement agreements, partnership/collaboration agreements, advertising agreements, and distribution/reseller agreements. This position involves supporting business initiatives across the company and providing strategic legal advice to key stakeholders. You will report to the Deputy General Counsel and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Finance, Product, Privacy, Engineering, and Devices. You will also gain experience with the company’s growing advertising initiatives.
The US-based salary range for this position is $165,000 to $242,500. We take into consideration an individual's background and experience in determining final salary- therefore, base pay offered may vary considerably depending on geographic location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. What You’ll Do
- Negotiate and draft a wide variety of commercial contracts, including inbound vendor agreements, technology agreements, consulting agreements, reseller and distribution agreements, collaboration and partnership agreements, and NDAs.
- Analyze and mitigate contractual risks related to data privacy, intellectual property, and regulatory compliance.
- Manage contract lifecycle processes, ensuring compliance with internal policies and applicable laws.
- Maintain and improve standard contract templates, playbooks, and practices to streamline legal operations.
- Build relationships and collaborate with teams across the company to understand business needs and translate them into effective commercial agreements.
- Support contracting related to the company’s growing advertising initiatives.
- Support M&A activities, partnerships, and other strategic transactions as needed.
What We’re Looking For
- 5-8 years of legal experience, including at least 3 years of in-house experience. Prefer a mix of law firm and in-house, plus experience counseling consumer technology clients.
- Strong experience negotiating and drafting complex commercial agreements in the technology sector.
- Familiarity with data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and their application in commercial transactions.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Detail-oriented and able to manage competing demands in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and strong business acumen.
- J.D. from an accredited law school and membership in at least one state bar.
