JOB SUMMARY
Works under general supervision of physician and/or nurse to provide clinical support to physicians and nurses in delivery of patient clinical care and administrative support.

Education
High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience
1 year of patient care experience in a physician office practice or
Completion of Medical Assistant training
- Licenses and Certifications
(BLS) BASIC LIFE SUPPORT certification, course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) Upon Hire and
Medical Assistant certification and maintenance of current certified status obtained through one of the following: Upon Hire
(CMA) CERT MEDICAL ASSISTANT The American Association of Medical Assistants or
(RMA) REG MEDICAL ASSISTANT The American Medical Technologists Association or
(NRCMA) NAT REGD CERT MEDICAL ASSISTNT The National Association for Health Professionals or
(NCMA) NATIONAL CERTIFIED MEDICAL ASSISTANT The National Center for Competency Testing or
(NHA-CCMA) Nat Hlthcareer CertClinMedAsst or
(RMA) REG MEDICAL ASSISTANT National Allied Health
JOB DUTIES
- Takes, records, and reports patient vital signs using medical equipment; performs procedures of low complexity such as visual acuity, development and/or musculoskeletal screening, POC testing, phlebotomy, EKG testing, and other approved clinic specific diagnostic testing.
- Escorts or transports patients to exam rooms or treatment rooms, or other areas as directed.
Documents completion of patient care tasks in medical records, and reinforces education provided by the physician or nurse seeking assistance from the nurse or physician as appropriate. - Assists in care of patients by preparing exam rooms for patient care, facilitating use of diagnostic equipment, and ensuring availability of needed patient information, such as results of diagnostic exams and medical records
