Description
The GL Accountant will report to the Controller and work closely with the Director of Finance to implement and enforce financial systems that enable accurate, timely, and complete financial information reporting. The GL Accountant is responsible for day-to-day accounting operations related to General Ledger maintenance. Specifically, the GL Accountant is responsible for preparing and posting journal entries related to payroll, fringe benefits, and other expense allocations, performing balance sheet account reconciliations, month-end closing entries, and maintaining expense allocation templates in Excel or within the Accounting System.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Maintain the Chart of Accounts.
• Prepare and post expense allocations in accordance with CRCD’s approved cost allocation plan.
• Track fixed assets and prepare depreciation schedules.
• Perform payroll allocations (semi-monthly), bank reconciliations, intercompany accounts reconciliations, and other general ledger reconciliations.
• Prepare and post journal entries as needed.
• Prepare and post month-end closing entries.
• Assure protection of the assets of the business through adherence and enforcement of CRCD’s internal controls & internal auditing.
• Support the annual audit and funders’ fiscal reviews.
• Prepare and provide weekly, monthly, and ad hoc financial reports as requested by Management.
• Coach Junior Accountants or interns as needed.
• Performing other duties as assigned.
Requirements
• Four-year college degree in accounting; advanced degree is a bonus.
• Three to five years related work experience required (nonprofit experience preferred; additional education may be substituted for experience).
• Proficiency in the use of software applications, databases, and spreadsheets.
• Understanding of accounting processes, procedures, and internal controls.
• Strong research and analytical skills.
• Ability to adapt quickly and learn new tasks independently.
• Ability to manage competing priorities.
• Excellent communication and organization skills.
• Ability to generate bold and creative ideas to improve performance.
SALARY RANGE
$70,000-$80,000 annually
