Sr. Contract Specialist, Business & Products Operations

About the role
For over 11 years, Amazon Web Services (“AWS”) has been the world’s most comprehensive and broadly adopted cloud platform. Business Processes and Operations (BPO) is a diverse team that supports infrastructure and other foundational initiatives that span and support Sales, Marketing and Support teams within AWS.
Due to increasing volume and business demands we are looking to hire a Senior Contract Specialist to support AWS Professional Services, for both public and commercial sectors, and AWS Legal by drafting, negotiating and executing Statements of Work (SOW) and other related contracts. We’re looking for a motivated self-starter who’s passionate about contracts, has solid stakeholder management and reporting skills, and can manage the contracting process from request to signature, analyze issues and risks, and recommend and implement improvements.
The candidate will work side by side with Deal Desk, Sales Enablement, Business Process Managers and AWS Legal to ensure contracts meet legal requirements. You will also support AWS Professional Services by providing operational guidance and be a trusted advisor in the contracting workflow, identifying risks and ensuring policy compliance, enabling them to provide an outstanding customer experience.
The successful candidate must be inquisitive, enthusiastic about technology, like being continually challenged, demonstrate sound judgment, problem-solving skills and attention to detail. You should also be able to engage and build trust with a broad range of senior stakeholders and business partners as well as have an interest in working in a space, where legal meets business. We are looking for a candidate who has 1+ years of people management experience and has supported, mentored and overseen the work of other individuals either directly or through dotted-line orgs.
Key job responsibilities
• Own the SOW process, creating documentation, gathering approvals, tracking status and communication between key stakeholders
• Engage and build meaningful relationships with senior stakeholders and business partners in the EMEA region
• Manage a team of Contract Specialists to ensure accuracy and morale in a fast-paced high visibility environment, to support contracting for AWS Professional Services
• Drafting key commercial contract terms within an AWS SOWs and other related contracts
• Communicate daily with cross functional teams including Sales, Legal, Operations and Management
• Retrieve and analyze data using Excel, Salesforce.com and other data management/BI Systems
• Proactively identify and implement operational improvements and enhancements that meet business requirements
• Be a part of projects for continuous improvement
• Become the SOW creation subject matter expert
• Mentor and support others on the team with complex contractual issues and concerns
• 5+ years of relevant contracting experience
• 3+years’ experience in drafting key contract terms for statement of works, contract amendments and work orders in technology, licensing, and service contracts or a broad range of standard commercial contracts.
• 1+ years’ experience with people management
• Excellent attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills
• Solid written and verbal communication skills at English business level standards
• Work independently while being able to contribute successfully to cross-functional global team
• Ability to communicate effectively across all functions and levels of the organization
• Salesforce experience
