About the role

The Farmington Public School District is looking for a Security Monitor for Union Elementary School.


GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The monitor or security monitor provides a variety of monitoring activities, including student and visitor monitoring in order to provide a safe and secure school environment.  This includes maintaining visitor policies and procedures, maintaining school discipline codes, monitoring school buildings and grounds, attendance records for class periods, preparing student passes, and following all established safety and security procedures, as required. 
 
Qualifications:

  • Candidate should hold a high school diploma or college level degree.
  • Candidate should demonstrate the ability to communicate with students while maintaining order with large student groups
  • Candidate should possess the stamina and physical capability to stand, walk, climb stairs for extended periods of time
  • Candidate should demonstrate the ability to monitor visitors and follow visitor sign in procedures.
  • Consideration will be given to the following
    • References that indicate the candidate possesses the skills required for this position.
    • Ability to control order with groups of students
    • Ability to control order with visitors to the school building and follow all visitor sign in policies and procedures
    • Ability to follow all safety and security policies and procedures
    • Ability to present a respectful demeanor to school community members and visitors
    • Ability to make sound judgment


 STARTING DATE: August 31, 2026

REPORTS T0: School Principal, Residency & Security Coordinator 

SCHEDULE:  8 hours per day, 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM (1 hour unpaid lunch) school year

SALARY RANGE: $22.06 - $26.64 dependent upon experience per FPSEU (26-27 rates)

STARTING DATE: August 27, 2026


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Monitor student conduct mediating minor disputes and redirecting inappropriate behaviors
  • Navigate the school campus frequently, including hallways, cafeterias, playgrounds and exterior perimeters to ensure a safe and secure school environment
  • Prepare reports, as required
  • Maintain all visitor policies and procedures
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to clearly communicate with staff, school community members and visitor
  • Demonstrate respect for students, visitors and all members of the school community
  • Make sound judgements and have good problem solving skills
  • Other related duties, as assigned
