Position Summary and Qualifications:

The Department of Physics is seeking 1 or more adjunct instructors to teach Physics 1 and 2. Topics covered include classical kinematics and dynamics, fluids, waves, optics, electricity and magnetism and optics. We are looking for instructors for both lectures (3-credit hours) and labs (3-credit hours). All courses will be offered on the Hawk Hill Campus.

Position Responsibilities:

  • The adjunct faculty will develop and deliver instructional materials such as lectures, lab activities, and assessments (including quizzes, exams)
  • Connect lectures and assessments to well defined student learning outcomes (SLOs) which will be clearly shared with students
  • Hold weekly office hours to support students (or be available by appointment)
  • Create, Administer, and Grade assignments, quizzes, lab reports, and exams
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress in the course through a well-organized grade book in our canvas platform


Minimum Qualifications:

  • The candidate will hold a Masters degree in Physics or related area
  • Ability to effectively explain complex concepts to students and have a strong understanding of student learning outcomes
  • Preferred: some experience with instruction on the college level
