Interstate Power Systems is looking for an experienced Parts Manager for our Altoona, Iowa location. The Parts Manager is a key member of our management team and fulfills a critical role in our operations. This position is responsible for overall accountability for managing a parts department covering internal and outside sales, developing our parts business, ensuring satisfied customers, and promoting our products and services. This position will utilize experience and knowledge in the heavy-duty truck, power generation, and diesel engine industry.
Parts Manager Responsibilities:
- Take all necessary steps to assure customer satisfaction.
- Performs supervisory responsibilities to effectively manage personnel including interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning work, appraising performance, disciplining, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.
- Take an active role in company sales.
- Monitor Parts Department performance and adjust as required to achieve company metrics.
- Participate in the setting of goals and objectives quarterly and annually.
- Review customer pricing and suggest pricing strategy.
- Assure proper inventory levels.
- Accurately quote and sell Parts.
- Manage back counter, front counter and outside parts sales.
- Communicate policies, procedures, and branch goals to employees.
Parts Manager Qualities:
- Exceptional interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills
- Clear understanding of customer service, sales, and marketing
- Must be a resourceful person, with a never give up attitude.
- Possesses technical knowledge of heavy-duty trucks, power generation, and industrial diesel engines, to assist customers and employees as needed.
- Knowledge of profit and loss statements and how to use them to manage a business unit.
- A self-starter who can observe the strengths present in a location and use those strengths to develop a positive business plan.
- Sense of urgency to deliver our products quickly to keep our customers down time to a minimum.
Parts Manager Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a manager at this level with ability to manage employees and processes.
- Experienced in sourcing parts using multiple resources.
- Excellent communication skills
- Prior knowledge of Detroit Diesel, MTU, Allison, Deutz, Perkins, Volvo Penta, Freightliner and heavy-duty truck parts beneficial but not required.
