Chief Data Office is the Central Data and Analytics arm that works closely with the Group-wide Businesses and Corporate functions to enable the execution of Nomura Group Strategy through Robust Data Standards & Governance, Actionable Performance Metrics & MIS, and High Impact Information and Analytics Products and Solution.

 

Job Responsibilities

• Develop and implement data governance policies, standards, and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
• Provide regional leadership for all Data Governance related activities along with managing a team of data governance professionals to ensure effective data governance across the organization.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to identify and prioritize data governance initiatives that support business objectives.
• Drive accountability and coordination through effective written and verbal communication channels.
• Work closely with technology teams to design and implement data governance solutions that meet business needs.
• Develop and maintain data governance metrics and reporting to measure the effectiveness of data governance initiatives.
• Stay up to date with industry trends and regulatory changes and make recommendations for how the organization can stay compliant.
• Collaborate with other data governance leaders and Data Stewards across the organization to ensure consistency and alignment of data governance practices.
• Tracks membership of the Executive Steering Committee, Data Governance Board, and Data Stewardship Council, and ensures that Data Governance processes are integrated into the appropriate Enterprise processes (e.g., Project Management and Software Development Life Cycle or SDLC). Monitors the implementation of processes.
• Provides guidance and support to business stakeholders on data governance best practices and ensures that data governance is integrated into the organization's overall data management strategy.
• Develops and manages the data governance budget and ensures that data governance initiatives are aligned with the organization's regional as well as overall strategic plan.

 

Skills, experience, qualifications and knowledge required:

• Master’s degree in business management, Certification in Data Governance/Management, or a related field.
• At least 15 years of experience in data governance, data management, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of data governance principles, standards, and best practices.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and prioritize complex data governance issues.
• Experience with data governance frameworks, such as COBIT, ITIL, or ISO 31000.
• Familiarity with data management tools, such as relational databases, data warehousing, and data visualization.
• Strong understanding of data privacy and security principles, including GDPR and CCPA.
• Experience with data governance metrics and reporting, including data quality, data security, and data privacy.
• Certified Data Governance Professional (CDGP) or similar certification.
