Job Description
Syngenta seeks a Senior Project Expert with a focus in geospatial analysis and exposure modeling to work within the North America Environmental Safety team. You will support the development and registration of new active ingredients, products, and maintenance of registered active ingredients/products for North America Environmental Safety by providing geospatial and modeling expertise to projects; developing strategies to utilize higher-tier exposure data and models to refine assessments; lead projects and work directly with contract research organizations regarding geospatial and/or exposure modeling components; and collaborate with other regional, global Product Safety and regional Regulatory Stewardship and Business personnel in support of the Syngenta portfolio and risk assessment strategies. You will also have opportunities to publish/present research and or represent Syngenta via professional organizations, workshops, industry-wide task forces, interact with regulatory authorities, as well as other opportunities for professional development or career advancement via technical and leadership pathways.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in a field related to environmental science, soil science, soil physics, environmental or agricultural engineering, environmental chemistry with 5 years of experience working in the agrochemical industry or Master’s degree with 10 years of experience
- Direct experience with ArcGIS suite of applications and extensions, statistical procedures used in environmental sciences, programming, and regulatory models used in environmental risk assessments
- Working knowledge of FIFRA and Endangered Species Risk Assessment processes and concepts
- Strong advocacy skills and ability to work across teams within and external to Syngenta to develop and promote science critical to our business
- Position is best suited for an energetic team-player who can operate autonomously, prioritize and adopt work responsibilities, multi-task, understands technical details as well as broader picture, and who values work deadlines and work-life balance
- Familiar with agriculture and use of agrochemicals
- Ability to plan, organize, adapt, and develop technical skills in disciplines beyond area of expertise
- Strong critical thinking and problem solving
- Full time / Permanent Position Location: US Greensboro NC
- Travel: 2%
- Relocation support is available
