JOB SUMMARY
This job is primarily accountable for leading, optimizing, and transforming the clinical sales strategy and client performance function. The incumbent works alongside PHE and Segment leadership and other sales staff to serve the Organization's internal and external clients and consultants. The incumbent is accountable for developing health management strategies that positively impact population health, productivity, risk, pharmacy management, high cost claimants and medical cost trends. The incumbent supports the Organization’s mission and contributes to the acquisition of new business and retention of clients, This management position supports the clinical and sales teams and leads in a matrix environment to maximize synergy with the clinical function, finance, sales, product, analytics, provider, and actuary. The incumbent connects the evolving needs of the Organization’s clients with developments in clinical strategy and operations. The incumbent, working in close partnership with Population and Curated Health (PCH) product management, defines, develops and communicates the value proposition for clinical products and services. This includes the development and recommendations for pre-sale (“opportunity assessment”) client reporting as well as post-sale client reporting for clinical solutions and overseeing client performance programs. Ensures that Highmark remains current with emerging industry best practices with respect to clinical strategy. This job requires a strategic approach to team development, talent management, and performance optimization, ensuring an effective and efficient team that consistently meets needs of internal and external customers.
Lead a team responsible for clinical sales functions, consultation to other stakeholders, industry trends, and customer facing clinical deliverables for internal and external customers. The goal of this work is to create and execute strategies leveraging the important work in the clinical and product areas, to address the broad spectrum of healthcare needs of our most sophisticated clients and their employee populations -- those in good health, those who are at risk for serious health conditions, those who need help managing chronic conditions, and those with other known modifiable health conditions. Strategies, presentations and deliverables developed by this group demonstrate the value of the Organization's clinical capabilities, strategies and future capability investment roadmap.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform management responsibilities to include, but are not limited to: involved in hiring and termination decisions, coaching and development, rewards and recognition, performance management and staff productivity. Plan, organize, staff, direct and control the day-to-day operations of the department; develop and implement policies and programs as necessary; may have budgetary responsibility and authority. Lead talent strategy that includes identification, training, and development for unique roles and skillsets necessary for the success of the function.
- Provide leadership in collaboration with the national and regional sales teams to generate, promote, and implement sales strategies and tactics. Lead a team who, in close collaboration with the Enterprise Clinical Organization (ECO) & PCH, is responsible for supporting the clinical content of strategies, client-facing collateral materials, presentations, request for proposals, and appropriate messaging which will vary by market segment, geography and client size; as well as advancing opportunity assessment capabilities.
- Responsible for developing and implementing clinical strategy that will enable the Organization to achieve Health Plan and enterprise membership and financial objectives. Communicates effectively and manages relationship with senior and mid¬level executives both internally and externally in formal and informal meeting/presentation venues, including internal departments critical to our clinical value proposition, our partner plans, consulting firms, and clients.
- Represent the interest of Sales and Customers by maintaining a thorough understanding of all Organization's clinical programs and reporting with the ability to explain, in simple language, to non-clinical people the cost and risk trends impacting the client’s business, clinical program activity, and outcome measures.
- Responsible to function as the Voice of the Customer, influencing and guiding a valuable feedback loop to the ECO and PCH product management for enhancement and future solution strategy.
