The Opportunity
In the Risk Management Function, we are dedicated to supporting our colleagues by working with them to deliver the best possible solutions in the management, control and mitigation of risks. We are responsible for maintenance of the company’s comprehensive risk management and control system assuming both perspectives the independent risk oversight and the business strategy.
This role reports to the Head of Operational Risk and is an integral part of an experienced Risk Management team, comprised of risk professionals with diverse areas of expertise. The position is based in Allianz House, Elmpark, Merrion Road, Dublin 4.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate qualitative risk management and control activities for individual business areas and define and prioritize mitigation actions in close collaboration with the business
- Support individual business areas in managing their risks within the company’s risk appetite. (e.g. underwriting, pricing and operational resilience)
- Coordinate processes and reporting relating to the company’s internal control system in line with Allianz Group requirements and local regulatory requirements, assuming a risk-based focus
- Responsibility for the timely production of relevant internal risk reporting on governance, operational risk, internal control or other specific topics for the Risk Committee
- Perform second line oversight and challenge of first line activities through formal risk and control assessments, control testing and through regular interactions with the with the business areas.
- Define and prioritise mitigation actions in close collaboration with the business.
- Provide support to the risk function across broader operational risk topics.
- Establish strong partnerships across the organization to facilitate open communication, leverage resources, and share information to ensure the effectiveness of risk management.
Key Requirements / Skills & Experience
Essential:
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a qualitative risk or similar role.
- Experience facilitating workshops with and presenting to senior stakeholders.
- Demonstrated understanding of operational risk management, internal controls processes and risk management techniques
- Demonstrated knowledge of the operating model and process landscape of P&C insurance companies allowing for cross-departmental thinking and acting
Desirable:
- Relevant qualification in Risk Management
- Experience with Data, Artificial Intelligence and/or IT Governance Frameworks
- Experience in an additional oversight role (eg Compliance, Audit, or Information Security)
- Project management experience
- Excellent report writing skills
